Washington & Jefferson wasted no time Saturday, soaring to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and never looking back in a 56-0 rout of Waynesburg. W&J quarterback Kellen Stahl only had one incompletion. Yes you read that correctly, one singular incompletion. The senior from Johnstown, PA went 27/28, racking up 408 yards and 5 touchdowns. He opened the game with a strike to WR John Peduzzi before finding Peters Township alum, Jacob Macosko and Shaler Area alum, John DeSabato twice to close out the first half, finding himself with a comfortable 28-0 lead. He would find Macosko again in the third quarter to complete his day. Leaving backup Colin Payne in good shape up 35-0. Payne went a perfect 5-5 for 40 yards and a touchdown, giving W&J 448 yards through the air and 6 touchdowns. Most impressively both quarterbacks were a combined 32/33 (96.9%) through the air. Stahl’s performance set an NCAA Division III record for completion percentage, previously held by John Carroll QB Nick Semptimphelter who went 25/26 earlier this season in a game against Waynesburg.

W&J’s running game amassed 157 yards and two touchdowns on the day. Kobe Derosa picked up a touchdown on 13 carries for 57 yards. Add in a late 4th quarter touchdown from Cam Mulvaney as well. Washington & Jefferson’s defense was equally as impressive, pitching a shutout over a conference opponent. Stifling the run game, allowing just 44 rushing yards on the day. Not finding much more success through the air, allowing 37 yards over the top. The offensive line for Waynesburg looked defeated from the beginning, giving up four sacks for a net loss of 20 yards. They added an interception as well as a fumble recovery while also forcing eight punts on only 12 drives for Waynesburg

Washington & Jefferson moves to 5-2 on the year (5-0 PAC), playing their most complete game of the season. They will move on next week to face the Case Western Reserve Spartans who are 4-2-1 (4-1 PAC). Waynesburg will look to regroup as they fall to 2-6 (2-4 PAC). They face a good opponent to do just that in the 0-7 (0-5 PAC) Bethany Bison next week on the road.
