Kiski Cougars fall in home Opener to the Hill School!
Rams kicker London Ezell kicked a 30 yard field goal to give the visiting Hill School a 16-14 lead with 12 seconds to go in the game. Kiski had just taken its first lead 62 seconds earlier on a Levi Porter touchdown.

Ezell hadn’t had a good game until the final drive. He was 0 for 2 on field goal attempts both the other way and his missed extra point was the difference in a 14-1$ deficit. He also zero receptions from his wide receiver position. But his lone catch of the game, a 45 yard catch on the first play after Kiski took the lead helped set up the winning kick.

The two teams battled for the full 48 minutes. Both teams had over 300 yards of total offense and there were three turnovers but only 20 points after almost 47 minutes. It looked like a lot of early season games. Good hard play and effort but a lot of penalties, drops and mental mistakes. The 19 man Ram squad game plan was to have star quarterback Julian Matera run around until someone got open or take off for a big gain. The Cougars wanted to pound the ball on the ground and have star quarterback Jaivin Peel hit play action passes. Matera did his job . The young man has amazing mobility and a strong arm. The Rams had no problems getting in Cougars territory but kept coming up empty. Two missed fields goals, turnover overs on down and an interception at the goal line. Kiski used a three headed monster to rush for over 200 yards, Slash, Flash and Smash. Maxamillion McMillan (Slash), Mason Jones (Flash) and Levi Porter (Smash) punished the Ram defense. They had nearly 40 carries for almost 200 yards and found the end zone twice. The Cougars passing game was a different story. Peel was 8 for 21 for 60 yards, the longest being just 14 yards. He also was picked twice. He under-threw one on the run and had one tipped at the line. He just missed a couple of deep ones. But easily the Cougars biggest problem was 7-8 dropped passes. Everyone seemed to take a turn. But the Cougars never gave up. They drove 79 yards in the final minutes, mostly on the ground and took the lead. But the Rams came right back in the final minute. The Cougars struggled all night with their deep coverage and Ezell made the plays late.
