Kiski School in Saltsburg played a road game to start the 2025 season. The school is used to taking a bus three plus hours to play a game. Yesterday they traveled 3,436 miles to Dublin, Ireland to play in the GIFT ( Global Ireland Football Tournament) against the Junior Irish Wolfhounds. First year head coach Aaron Smetanka notched his first win at Kiski. Smetanka coached his last six years at St Vincent in Latrobe, so it was a short move to Saltsburg. The Cougars who have a number of college prospects, play like a small college. The Cougars usually have a roster under 30 players so they are constantly looking for recruits. They also have players from seven countries to fill out their roster. One of their big off season transfers was quarterback Jaivin Peel from West Beaver. Quarterback was one of the big holes they needed to fill. After both teams punt and fumbled on their first two possessions, Peel threw four straight touchdowns. Three were to Noa Seyi Onobiono. Local Star Levi Porter who pretty much carried the team last year then scored on a punt return. Three different Cougars had rushing touchdowns and their defense scored. Kiski will be at home in two weeks for their home opener.
