Kotsko’s View of the WVC: 2023 Week 10 Regular Season Finale

Here we go, the end of the regular season. Man, do the years start coming and don’t stop coming. It only feels like yesterday that I started writing my first preview article for the 2023 season and now we’re at the end of the regular season. Time really can pass you by. However, I’m just rambling at this point, we got some rivalries, a chance at an undefeated season coming into Week 10. So with that being said, let’s get into the Week 10 games!!!

Valley West at Wilkes-Barre Area

Fri 7 PM

Valley West is coming off a loss to Scranton Prep. Wilkes-Barre lost to Dallas. Spartans running back Tyler Mattis had two rushing touchdowns last week. Wolf Pack running back Howie Shiner is rushing for 986 yards and nine touchdowns. He also has two interceptions on defense. Wilkes-Barre Area is currently 6th in the 6A Subregional Playoff picture. Valley West is eliminated from playoff contention. Can the Spartans end the season with an big upset victory or will the Wolf Pack pull off the victory?

Prediction: Wilkes-Barre Area 28 Valley West 14

Holy Redeemer at Montrose

Fri 7 PM

Holy Redeemer lost to Pittston Area. Montrose is coming off a loss to Lansing. Royals quarterback Thomas Dugan is throwing for 661 yards and four touchdowns on the season. Meteors running back Jamir Robinson has two rushing touchdowns on the season. Both teams are looking to end their season on a high note with a win.

Prediction: Holy Redeemer 35 Montrose 14

Crestwood at North Pocono

Fri 7 PM

Crestwood is coming off a victory over Berwick. North Pocono is coming off a loss to Abington Heights. Comets running back James Barret has 656 yards rushing and five touchdowns. Trojans wideout Cole West has 23 catches for 422 yards and three touchdowns. Both teams are in the District 2 4A Playoffs. Crestwood is currently 4th and North Pocono is 6th. Which team will end their regular season with a victory.

Prediction: Crestwood 28 North Pocono 27

Pittston Area at Wyoming Area

Fri 7 PM

Pittston Area is coming off a shutout victory over Holy Redeemer. Wyoming Area lost to Southern Columbia. Patriots quarterback Drew DeLucca is throwing for 1,330 yards and 14 touchdowns. Warriors running back Aaron Crossley is rushing for 1,245 yards and 21 touchdowns. Pittston Area has the 4th and final playoff spot in District 2 5A. Wyoming Area is in third in District 2 4A. Both teams have qualified for the postseason. However, which of these teams will win in this big rivalry matchup?

Prediction: Wyoming Area 28 Pittston Area 14

Williamsport at Tunkhannock

Fri 7 PM

Williamsport is coming off a victory over Hazleton Area. Tunkhannock is coming off a loss to Towanda. Millionaires quarterback Caleb Williamson is throwing for 1,587 yards and 15 touchdowns. Tigers running back Logan Ross is rushing for 1,020 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. Williamsport currently has the 8th and final playoff spot in the 6A Subregional Playoffs. Tunkhannock is in 10th place in District 2 4A but only .006 points out of a playoff spot in 4A. This is very much a win and in situation for both teams. Which team will come out on top and make their respective playoff?

Hazleton Area at Berwick

Fri 7 PM

Hazleton Area is coming off a loss at Williamsport. Berwick lost to Crestwood. Cougars wideout Zander Coleman has eight total touchdowns on the 2023 season. Bulldogs running back Tyler Winter is rushing for 792 yards and nine touchdowns. Berwick currently has 7th in the District 2 4A Standings. Can Hazleton Area end the season with a victory or will Berwick solidify their playoff spot?

Prediction: Berwick 14 Hazleton Area 7

Dallas at Lake-Lehman

Fri 7 PM

Dallas stayed undefeated with a victory at home over Wilkes-Barre Area. Lake-Lehman is coming off a victory over Hanover Area. Mountaineers quarterback Brady Zapoticky is throwing for 1,242 yards and 18 touchdowns. He also has nine rushing touchdowns. The Black Knights Ben Dowling is rushing for 225 yards and three touchdowns. He also has 23 catches for 245 yards and four touchdowns. Dallas currently has the top spot in the District 2 4A Playoffs. Lake-Lehman is in 3rd for the District 2 3A Playoffs. Both teams look like they will qualify for the postseason but the biggest question remains.. who will retain the Old Shoe? Can Dallas finish the regular season undefeated or will Lake-Lehman pull off the upset?

Prediction: Dallas 35 Lake-Lehman 14

Nanticoke at Hanover Area

Fri 7 PM

Nanticoke is coming off a loss to Shamokin. Hanover Area is coming off a loss to Lake-Lehman. Trojans running back Zack Fox is rushing for 1,470 yards and 19 touchdowns on the season. Hawkeyes wideout Deacon Eisenbach has 20 catches for 273 yards and two touchdowns. He also has two interceptions on defense. Nanticoke is currently 5th in the District 2 4A Playoffs. Hanover Area currently holds the 4th and final playoff spot in the District 2 3A Playoffs. Which team will take this chapter of the San Souci Struggle?

Prediction: Nanticoke 42 Hanover Area 7
