The first week of playoffs are now in the books and none of the results come as no surprise. That’s the thing about the first round of playoffs, there’s usually very little upsets. You might get one or two but most of the games are typically a mismatch. There are some very interesting matchups this week in the WVC. Two are matchups from the regular season and two matchups are between teams that are playing their first game against each other. With that being said, let’s get to the games!!!

District 2 3A Semifinals

Lakeland at Wyoming Area

Friday 7 PM

Lakeland defeated Lake-Lehman 44-7 to get to the District semifinals. Wyoming Area beat Carbondale 55-14 to advance to the semifinals. Wyoming Area defeated Lakeland 19-14 in Week 6. The Chiefs defense returned two interceptions for touchdowns last week in the victory against Lake-Lehman. Warriors RB Nico Sciandra rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns. He also returned a kickoff 80 yards for a score. This is a matchup of previous District Champions. Wyoming Area won the District title in 2019 en route to the State Title and Lakeland won the title last season. Which team will come out on top in this matchup of the last two District Champions?

Prediction: Wyoming Area 28 Lakeland 27
