Week 1 is now in the books or is it Week 0? I always just call it Week 1 to make things easier. So we are now onto Week number 2. Football is racing through my brain and I just can’t contain this feeling that remains. Bonus points if you know the song I was referring to. With all that rambling out of the way, we got some great matchups on tap this weekend and with that being said, let’s get into the games!!
Dallas at Crestwood
Friday 7 PM
Dallas is coming off a road win at Abington Heights. Crestwood is coming off a tough road loss at Valley View. Mountaineers wideout Zach Paczewski had four catches for 71 yards and a touchdown in the victory. The Comets’ Matt Sklarosky returned a blocked field goal 62 yards for a touchdown. Dallas is looking to go to 2-0 on the year. Crestwood is hoping to rebound after a loss on opening night in front of the home crowd. Will the Mountaineers go to 2-0 or will the Comets get the victory at home?
Prediction: Dallas 21 Crestwood 7
Abington Heights at Wilkes-Barre Area
Friday 7 PM
Abington Heights is coming off a home loss against Dallas. Wilkes-Barre Area is coming off a loss to Scranton. Comets quarterback Nick Bradley threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns. He also added 98 yards on the ground. Wolf Pack running back Davon Underwood returned a punt for a touchdown and also had a receiving touchdown. Both teams had a tough opponent to start the season and both played a close game that came down to the final seconds. Who will make the adjustments better and go to 2-0?

Old Forge at Nanticoke
Friday 7 PM
Old Forge is coming off a loss at Dunmore. Nanticoke is coming off a home victory against Carbondale. The Blue Devils’ Joe Granko returned a fumble for a touchdown in Week 1. Running back Zack Fox rushed for 242 yards and three touchdowns in the Trojans’ home opener. Old Forge took the victory last season. Can Nanticoke go to 2-0 at home or will the Blue Devils rebound from their opening night loss to go to 1-1 on the season?
Prediction: Old Forge 21 Nanticoke 14
Wallenpaupack at Hazleton Area
Friday 7 PM
Wallenpaupack defeated Honesdale in Week one. Hazleton Area took the victory at home against Pittston Area. Buckhorns running back Dylan Podrazil had 146 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Cougars running back Brady Mizenko rushed for 240 yards and a touchdown in the win at home. Both teams each won their opening night game. Which team will come out on top in this matchup?
Prediction: Hazleton Area 28 Wallenpaupack 14
Lake-Lehman at Lackawanna Trail
Friday 7 PM
Lake-Lehman lost to Western Wayne last week. Lackawanna Trail got the victory at Mid Valley in Week one. Black Knights wideout Chris Sholtis had 10 catches for 201 yards and two touchdowns. Lions running back Lucas Gumble rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown. The Black Knights seek their first win of the 2023 campaign. Lackawanna Trail looks to go to 2-0 and defend their District 2 Single-A crown. Will Lake-Lehman get their first win or will the Lions go to 2-0?

Williamsport at Pittston Area
Friday 7 PM
Williamsport is coming off a loss at home to State College. Pittston Area is coming off a loss on the road to Hazleton Area. Millionaires quarterback Caleb Williamson threw for 194 yards and two touchdowns last week. Patriots quarterback Drew Delucca threw for 148 yards and a touchdown. Both teams are looking to get to 1-1. Will Williamsport take the long trip back with a victory or will the Patriots get the win in front of the home crowd?

Wyoming Area at Honesdale
Friday 7 PM
Wyoming Area took a convincing road victory at Tunkhannock. Honesdale lost to Wallenpaupack on Opening Night. Warriors running back Aaron Crossley ran for 192 yards and four touchdowns in the Week 1 victory. Hornets wideout Cameron Hedgelon had four catches for 102 yards and a touchdown. Honesdale pulled off the shutout victory last year at Wyoming Area but will the Warriors exact revenge or will last year repeat itself?
Prediction: Wyoming Area 18 Honesdale 6
Hanover Area at Tunkhannock
Friday 7 PM
Hanover Area took the victory at Holy Cross on a Saturday afternoon. Tunkhannock is coming off a loss to Wyoming Area. Hawkeyes running back Jayden Skipalis had a great day running the ball, rushing for 125 yards and four touchdowns. The Tigers’ Austin Holliday had an interception on defense. Hanover Area matched their win total from last season and are looking to double their win total. Can the Hawkeyes get to 2-0 or will Tunkhannock get their first win of the 2023 campaign?

Valley West at Scranton
Friday 7 PM
Valley West got their first win since 2021 with a home victory against North Pocono. Scranton started 1-0 with a victory at Wilkes-Barre Area. Spartans running back Isaiah Cobb ran for 136 yards and two touchdowns in their Week 1 win. Knights quarterback Billy Maloney threw for 121 yards and two touchdowns in the road victory. Both teams are looking to go to 2-0 on the season. Can the Spartans improve to 2-0 against another Lackawanna League team or will the Knights take the victory over another Wyoming Valley Conference opponent?
Prediction: Scranton 35 Valley West 14
Valley View at Berwick
Friday 7 PM
Valley View escaped with a home victory on Opening Night against Crestwood. Berwick is coming off a loss to perenial State power Southern Columbia. Cougars fullback Zach Cwalinski recorded two rushing touchdowns in the victory. Bulldogs running back Ethan Winter rushed for 82 yards. Valley View is looking to go to 2-0 on the season but will the Bulldogs rebound at home to get their first win?
Prediction: Valley View 28 Berwick 7
Holy Redeemer at Holy Cross
Saturday 1 PM
Holy Redeemer is coming off a road loss at Susquehanna. Holy Cross lost to Hanover Area last Saturday afternoon. Royals running back Ryan Garvin rushed for 11 yards in the loss last week. Crusaders quarterback Joshua Lentowski threw for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Both teams are looking to rebound from blowout losses last week. Will the Crusaders get their first win since the 2021 season or will the Royals go to 1-1?
