Labor Day is past and now we have hit Week 3 of the 2023 High School Football season. We’ve seen some pretty impressive accomplishments in the first two weeks of the season. We saw a shootout in Mountain Top where Brady Zapoticky and Jaden Shedlock traded blow for blow with Dallas taking the victory over Crestwood. We saw a touchdown with no time left in Nanticoke where Old Forge won by a point. With all that being said, let’s get into the games for Week 3!!!

Hazleton Area at North Pocono

Friday 7 PM

Hazleton Area is coming off a loss to Wallenpaupack. North Pocono is coming off a close win over Western Wayne. Cougars quarterback Austin Wilson has thrown for 240 yards and five touchdowns this season. Trojans quarterback Noah West is throwing for 212 yards and two totals touchdowns on the season. Hazleton Area won handily last season this year, can the Cougars repeat last season’s performance or will North Pocono get the win at home?

Prediction: Hazleton Area 21 North Pocono 14

Carbondale at Hanover Area

Friday 7 PM

Carbondale lost to Lakeland last week. Hanover Area is coming off a loss to Tunkhannock. Chargers quarterback Mason Baron threw for 61 yards in the loss last week. Hawkeyes quarterback Rahmel Currie has thrown for 130 yards and a touchdown in early 2023. Carbondale is looking for win number 1 of the 2023 season. Hanover Area is looking to gain some momentum and get to 2-1. Will the Hawkeyes get their second win or will the Chargers win their first?

Prediction: Hanover Area 24 Carbondale 7

Scranton Prep at Lake-Lehman

Friday 7 PM

Scranton Prep is coming off a victory over West Scranton. Lake-Lehman lost to Lackawanna Trail last week. Cavaliers quarterback Louis Paris thrown for 324 yards and seven touchdowns in two games so far this season. Black Knights quarterback Hayden Evans has 281 passing yards and three touchdowns this season. Both of these teams played each other twice last season with Prep taking both victories. Scranton Prep is looking to stay undefeated whereas Lake-Lehman is looking for their first win of the 2023 season. Will the Cavaliers go to 3-0 or will the Black Knights get their first win?

Prediction: Scranton Prep 35 Lake-Lehman 7

Pittston Area at Valley West

Friday 7 PM

Pittston Area lost to Williamsport last week. Valley West is coming off a loss at Scranton. Patriots quarterback Drew Delucca has thrown for 205 yards and a touchdown. Spartans Running back Paul Riggs is rushing for 114 yards. Both teams are coming off blowout losses. Will the Patriots get their first win or will the Spartans go to 2-1 on the early season?

Prediction: Pittston Area 21 Valley West 20

Wilkes-Barre Area at Wallenpaupack

Friday 7 PM

Wilkes-Barre Area is coming off a loss to Abngton Heights. Wallenpaupack is coming off a win over Hazleton Area. Wolf Pack quarterback Jake Howe has thrown for 258 yards and five touchdowns in two games this season. Buckhorns running back Dylan Podrazil has rushed for 310 yards and four touchdowns. Wilkes-Barre Area is looking for their first win of the season. Wallenpaupack enters with a 2-0 record. Can the Buckhorns stay undefeated or will the Wolf Pack get their first win of the year?

Prediction: Wilkes-Barre Area 28 Wallenpaupack 21

Lackawanna Trail at Nanticoke

Friday 7 PM

Lackawanna Trail is coming off a victory over Lake-Lehman. Nanticoke is coming off a last second loss to Old Forge. Lions running back Lukas Gumble rushed for 194 yards and three touchdowns on the year. Trojans running back Zack Fox is rushing for 407 yards and five touchdowns in 2023. Lackawanna Trail comes in ranked 9th in the state in Single-A and are undefeated. Meanwhile, Nanticoke is looking to get to 2-1 on the young season.

Williamsport at Dallas

Friday 7 PM

Williamsport is coming off a win against Pittston Area. Dallas is coming off a road victory at Crestwood. Millionaires quarterback Caleb Williamson has 414 passing yards and four total touchdowns in 2023. Mountaineers wide receiver Zach Paczewski has eight catches for 254 yards and four touchdowns on the year. Williamsport is looking to get another road victory. Dallas comes to their home opener 2-0 and looking to stay undefeated. Will the Mountaineers stay undefeated or will the Millionaires play spoiler?

Prediction: Dallas 28 Williamsport 14

Abington Heights at Berwick

Friday 7 PM

Abington Heights is coming off a win at Wilkes-Barre Area. Berwick lost to Valley View last week. Comets wideout Kevin Schmidt has six catches for 106 yards and a touchdown on the year. Bulldogs wideout Billy Hanson has seven catches for 90 yards and a touchdown. Berwick is looking for their first win of the season and will be without Head Coach Mike Bennett who left the team due to an undisclosed medical condition. Abington Heights is looking to get to 2-1 on the year. Will the Comets go to 2-1 or will Berwick find their first win of 2023 at home?

Prediction: Abington Heights 21 Berwick 7

Crestwood at Wyoming Area

Friday 7 PM

Crestwood lost to Dallas last Friday night. Wyoming Area is coming off a win against Honesdale. Comets quarterback Jaden Shedlock is rushing for 399 yards and four touchdown in 2023. He has also thrown for 159 yards and two touchdowns on the yearWarriors running back Aaron Crossley is rushing for 345 yards and eight touchdowns on the year. Crestwood is 0-2 but both teams they played are 2-0 to start the year. Wyoming Area is 2-0 and looking to stretch their winning streak to three. Will the Comets pull off the upset or will the Warriors stay undefeated?

Prediction: Crestwood 28 Wyoming Area 21

Tunkhannock at Holy Redeemer

Saturday 5 PM

Tunkhannock is coming off a victory against Hanover Area. Holy Redeemer is coming off a loss Saturday afternoon to Holy Cross. Tigers running back Logan Ross is rushing for 208 yards and two touchdowns this season. Royals wideout Mike Zbierski has eight catches for 118 yards and a touchdown on the year. The Royals are looking to right the ship after an 0-2 start. The Tigers are looking to win their second straight game in 2023. Will the Royals get the win or will the Tigers?

Prediction: Tunkhannock 35 Holy Redeemer 7
