Kutztown continues their undefeated season with a 51-29 over #24 ranked Frostburg State in the Division 2 Quarterfinals. Kutztown has been on a tear so far in the playoffs as this is the Golden Bears 3rd consecutive 50+ point game they’ve put up. In the first half both teams had been going at for the first 2 drives, trading touchdowns and keeping the game going back and forth, Kutztown would stay strong and hold the lead though after a blocked extra point on the first touchdown for Frostburg State. Kutztown would go on to score 2 more touchdowns in the first half putting them up 28-13, and looking as if they were going to run away with the game, but a last ditch effort on a bobbled catch in the end zone by Amirr Coles put the Bobcats within a one possession game.
In the second half it was all Kutztown, as they would put up 23 more points and only allowed 9 from Frostburg State; the Golden Bear defense was holding their own in the second half of the game, as Defensive Back Zach Perta would get an interception for Kutztown to keep the momentum going. Judd Novak totaled 4 touchdowns on the day, 3 through the air and one on the ground; Jaedyn Stewart would rush for one, and Luke Maxwell would rush for two touchdowns as well alongside a receiving touchdown; and Trevor Amorim and Gino Campagna would each snag a receiving touchdown in the Golden Bears win.
Kutztown will now face #3 Harding next week on December 13th, and will host the NCAA Division II Semifinal for the first time in their history; the Golden Bears received the #2 seed ranking in the final four selection.
