Today was Media Day for the 2024 season of the Lackawanna Football Conference, hosted by The Regal Room in Olyphant.  Coaches and players from many of the Lackawanna Conference teams were on hand to enjoy some food and recognition, as well as plenty of pictures and questions.

After a 12-2 season in 2023, a few returning members of the Scranton Prep Cavaliers were on hand today to take in the festivities.  “I’m excited about the team” said Senior Louis Paris, now a 3-year starter at QB.  “We’ve been working hard, we learned a lot from the last 2 years and there’s a lot of optimism going into to the season.”

Delaware Valley’s Logan Olsommer, another Senior QB, echoed the same sentiment after his team had a 10-4 record in 2023 that included a State Quarterfinal game.  “We have been practicing hard and working out.  We left a little bit on the table from last year and I feel like we are prepared to get started and go after it.  I’m excited about this year.”

Honesdale Senior QB Aiden Collins likes his team’s experience and momentum:  “We have a lot of guys returning this year, we have a lot of guys who have a good amount of experience and we are excited about where we are headed.”  Honesdale Head Coach Paul Russick elaborated further on his QB’s optimism:  “Aiden is a 4-year starter, we return a 1,000 yard rusher from last season in Mason Avery and our overall team experience is strong on the Offensive Line.  For defense, we return plenty of starters and should be fast.”

Lackawanna Trail Head Coach Steve Jervis also likes his team’s experience after a 13-1 2023 seaon:  “With us playing 14 games last year, we feel we gained a lot of experience for the younger guys as they had opportunity to see extended playing time.  While we lost some good seniors, the experience for the younger guys is going to play a big part this season.  Guys like ‘Meech’ (Demetrius Douglas) and ‘Max’ (Max Kimmel) will play some strong roles, as will (Junior RB) Isaac Ryon.”

Watch for our upcoming Lackawanna Football Conference preview as we discuss 2024 season outlooks for each team.
