3 Game Previews for week 7 in Lancaster-Lebanon League

Hempfield celebrating after a win against Warwick earlier this year.

1)Hempfield at Manheim Township– Hempfield comes into this game 4-3 record but had their 3 game winning streak snapped last week to Cedar Crest. In that game, Hempfield had 4 turnovers including a pick 6.  Township comes into the game with a 5-2 record including a 4 game winning streak. Whichever team wins this game will have a leg up in the Section 1 race of the Lancaster-Lebanon League.

Key to victory– The key in a big game like this, is turnovers. Whoever can avoid the turnover bug, will have a huge advantage in a game like this. Also, both Quarterbacks need big games for their teams. Jayden Johnson of Township has been on fire the last several weeks, where Cam Harbaugh has been the heart and soul of Hempfield, but he needs to avoid the turnover bug this week.

2) Ephrata vs. Donegal- Ephrata enters this game with a 5-2 record including a 29-21 victory over Lancaster Catholic last week. They are lead by the second-leading rusher in the Lancaster-Lebanon League in Andre Weidman.  Donegal comes into this game with a 4-2 record, but after an off week because of Covid issues they got beat by Lampeter Strasburg 55-0.

Key to victory– The key to this game is who can stop the other teams rushing attack. Weidman of Ephrata is already over 1,000 yards on the year. He is showing that he is one of the elite running backs in the area. Donegal runs a Wing-T and they usually run the ball very well of this offense. Whichever defense steps up, is most likely going to have a better chance at victory.

3) Columbia at Anneville-Cleona-5-1 Columbia rolls into this game on a 4 game winning streak and is in a good position to win Section 4 of Lancaster-Lebanon. Anneville-Cleona comes into this game with a 3-3 record but is on a 2 game winning streak. Contrasting styles in this one where Columbia runs a spread attack and is lead by Robert Footman the second-leading passer in the Lancaster-Lebanon League. Anneville-Cleona is an option attacked lead by numerous runners.

Key to victory– Can Anneville-Cleona stop Footman and the high Octane offense of Columbia? Footman is a true dual-threat QB in that he can make you miss as a runner and also throw the ball very well. Helping stop him can be Anneville-Cleona’s rushing attack by running the ball and limiting his possessions.
