LaSalle takes down Imhotep 31-16 to win the District XII 6A Championship for the first time in 10 years. The Explorers got the jump in the first half, taking a 24-0 lead; Senior Joey O’Brien had two of those touchdowns and was dominating on the field, catching everything that came his way. LaSalle would cap off the first half with a field goal as time expired and it looked like the Explorers were going to run away with this game.

The second half comes around and both teams go back and forth on drives with nothing to show from it until just 2 minutes lefts in the 3rd quarter, where Syeer Coleman runs the ball in for a Panthers touchdown, followed up by a 2 point conversion. In the final quarter LaSalle would be shutdown and Imhotep would take the ball all the way to the 3 yard line; LaSalle would hold them to a 4th down but Imhotep persevered and runs it again for another touchdown followed up by another 2 point conversion to make it a one possession game.

We’re down to the 4 quarter and LaSalle’s quarterback Gavin Sidwar scrambles in what looks like a possible throw away, and turns his body infield to connect to Joey O’Brien (his 3rd touchdown on the game) on a back arm throw that turns into an Explorers touchdown. That would be the dagger to secure the 6A title for LaSalle, and the Explorers go on to win the championship moments later. LaSalle will be traveling to Bethlehem next Friday to take on undefeated Easton in what will be a great matchup.
