Abraham Lincoln’s season was halted after a post game incident following their 39-8 win at Northeast High a neighboring rivalry on October 4th. The original punishment handed down was a 3 game suspension including post season ban for the Railsplitters. Tuesday evening the league reduced the team suspension to 2 games by forcing Lincoln to forfeit the win at Northeast as well as last weeks game to West Philadelphia. Other punishments that were handed down in the modified sanctions were 12 players and 4 coaches deemed to be involved in the altercation are suspended for this week as well. In return Lincoln will play Imhotep Charter as originally planned and scheduled on Saturday at 1pm however no fans will be allowed entry.
With new life also comes challenges. The public league playoffs begin next week and currently with the forfeits Lincoln is currently sitting with a 2-2 division record of which is identical to Washington (who they own the head to head with) and West Philly. In order to make the playoffs they need to either upset Imhotep short handed or with a loss to Tep, they will need a West Philly win to earn the 4th playoff seed. West Philly hosts George Washington on Friday at 3pm so the Railsplitters for this week will be huge Speedboys fans.
