Manheim Township Defeats Wilson 20-14

Manheim Township held off Wilson in a hard-fought 20-14 win on Friday night. Both teams battled from start to finish, but turnovers and penalties made it tough for either side to pull away.
The first quarter was quiet as both defenses played strong. Wilson’s opening drive ended in a punt, and Manheim Township couldn’t move the ball much either. Wilson’s Michael Glover made an early impact with a tackle for loss to stop one of Township’s drives. The first points came when Manheim Township kicked a 25-yard field goal by Rowan Crispeno to take a 3-0 lead.
In the second quarter, Township added to their lead when quarterback Noah Benack ran in a 10-yard touchdown, putting them ahead 10-0. Wilson finally found momentum soon after. Glover broke free for a 76-yard touchdown run, cutting the score to 10-7 after Preston Oxenreider made the extra point.
Manheim Township started the second half strong. Benack led a long drive and threw a 37-yard pass to set up another score. He then connected with Dehvyn Lauano for a short touchdown, extending the lead to 17-7.
Wilson responded with another impressive drive. Running back Monty Greer pushed through the defense for a 14-yard touchdown, bringing Wilson back within three points at 17-14.
Manheim Township answered once again. Crispeno made his second field goal of the game to make it 20-14 late in the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Wilson had several chances to take the lead. A long pass from Mason Young to Damian Greer brought them deep into Township territory, Wilson Fumbles on 3rd down making it 4th and long. Wilson with what seemed to be one last hope Township intercepts Youngs pass. Township with the ball with 30 seconds left in the game but Wilson has all 3 timeouts. and on 4th and 1 with 10 seconds left Townships Center goes early getting wilson the ball back. Wilson wasn’t able to convert as Mason Youngs pass was intercepted again.
Glover and Greer led the way on offense, keeping the Bulldogs in the game. Benack and Crispeno stood out for Manheim Township, combining for all 20 points.
