Heritage Conference Game of the Week

United Valley Lions(6-3) at Marion Center Stingers (6-3)

Last Meeting 9/15/23 MC 6 @ UV 14

The Marion Center Stingers posted their 5th shutout of the season on Senior Night as they played maybe their most complete game of the year. The United Valley Lions were shutout for the 4th time this year. Both teams will start the D6 playoffs next week on the road.

UV PF 26.8 PA 9.9

MC PF 21.9 PA 10.0

The first quarter saw the Lions come out trying to establish their rushing attack. After one first down they punted and got a nice roll pinning the Stingers at their own nine. MC moved to midfield before Skyler Hauck sacked Camden Rising and Michael Monty recovered. The Lions second drive started at the Stingers 43. The four minute drive would use up the rest of the quarter. The Lions move into the red zone only to go backwards and turn in over on downs.

The Stingers started the second quarter with the ball at their 30. After three straight runs,  Rising pumped fake a pass to the flats and hit a wide open Troy Slovinsky for a 53 yard touchdown pass. The Lions would pick up one first down and punt it again. On their second play Noah McCoy took a bubble screen from Rising broke some tackles and ran 77 yards for a touchdown.

The Lions were down 13-0. They would drive inside the Stingers 10 before Troy Slovinsky would pick off a pass at the three. The Stingers would then go on a 97 yard drive in just over two minutes to score just before the half. Again on a Rising to Troy Slovinsky pass. The Lions ran out the half.

The third quarter started with MC on offense. The 73 yard touchdown drive used almost six minutes. Rising capped the drive with a six yard run. Both teams would punt on their next possessions. The Lions were driving as the quarter ended.

The fourth quarter started with the Lions fumbling at their own nine Stingers 32. MC would use over seven minutes to drive 68 yards for the touchdown. Isaac Basa scored from six yards out, going his best Refrigerator Perry impression. The Lions JVs were able to run out the clock.
