What to Know About The Game
This is a rivalry that dates all the way back to 1947 where these two teams met for the first time in a 12-0 Montoursville victory, and fast forward 78 years later and we have our 68th meeting between these two teams coming up on Friday. Montoursville has absolutely dominated this rivalry all time, currently sitting with a 57-9-1 record over Mifflinburg however this matchup might be the best one to date. Both sides sit at 3-0 heading into the matchup, and both sides are led by their senior stars on offense. Mifflinburg is led in by senior quarterback Chad Martin and senior wide receiver Landen Murray, while Montoursville is led in by their senior running back Christian Banks. Last year these two teams met up twice, both ending in Montoursville victories, a 27-20 victory on the road in the regular season and a 28-27 victory at home in the playoffs. Both teams are significantly better than last season, as last season Mifflinburg began the year 0-5 and finished 4-7, while Montoursville only finished 6-6 despite starting 5-2.
Final Thoughts
This series has been dominated all time by Montoursville, especially at home. History will tell you that this is Montoursville’s game to lose and I do believe that ultimately the Warriors will come out in this one. These teams are extremely evenly matched so the tie breaker for me is the home field advantage. This game is one that very well could go either way, but my prediction is that Montoursville prevails and moves to 4-0 for the first time since 2020.
My Prediction
Mifflinburg – 31
Montoursville – 35
