Muncy uses strong first quarter to blank Northwest 61-0

Muncy started fast and never looked back. It was Military Appreciation night for Muncy as they would honor all current and former service members before the game. The Indians won the toss and Nathan Rodgers took the ball on the opening kickoff 85 yards to jump out to a 6-0 lead 12 seconds into the game. The Rangers then took the ball and punted. Muncy next drive was led by Austin Johnson as he had a 36 yard run then Landyn Wommer had a 1 yard touchdown run giving the Indians a 12-0 lead as the extra point was missed with 9-15 left in the first quarter.


The Rangers punted and Muncy capitalized as Austin Johnson scored with a 24 yard touchdown run and the Indians went for two and converted, Muncy took a 20-0 lead with 7:11 left in the first. 70 game seconds later Landyn Wommer had his second touchdown of the night with a 61 yard touchdown run again the Indians went for two and were successful as they led 28-0 with 6:01 in the first.


A holding penalty would put the Rangers on their own 10-yard line on the next play Jace McCoy was intercepted by Carter Feigles, the Indians took a 35-0 with 5:27 to go in the first. The next drive as the Rangers fumbled, Johnson had his second touchdown with a 14-yard touchdown run making the score 41-0 in the first. The Indians would end their first quarter scoring with a 41 yard touchdown pass to Gavin Barrows to Stiles Eyer with 46 seconds remaing in the first. in the first. Wommer had his third touchdown of the game with a 2 yard run to give Muncy a 54-0 lead with 8:50 to go in the first half.


The teams would agree upon having a 8:00 third and fourth quarter along with a running clock. Both temas second teams were in the game. The second half Muncy would run down the clock after the Rangers punted on their opening second half drive. Muncy would end the scoring with a 4 yard run by Jaxson Thomas.
The Rangers return home next Saturday afternoon to play New Hope-Solebury in non-conference actiom. The Indians travel next Friday night to Sayre to play the Redskins.
