There were several milestones on the line in the San Souci Struggle tonight at Gayewski Memorial Stadium. The Nanticoke seniors could go 4-0 against Hanover Area in their careers. They can have their first guaranteed winning season since 2018. Zack Fox could end by the time the night was over, be the Trojans all-time leading rusher. Nanticoke accomplished all three of these goals and pitched a shutout against the Hanover Area Hawkeyes 54-0. “We just dialed it in with the task at hand. It’s rivalry weekend, we had some setbacks earlier in the season. The guys did a great job tonight.” said Trojans head coach Ron Bruza.

First drive of the game, Fox carried the ball three times, gaining 65 yards and scoring from 21 yards out for an 8-0 Nanticoke lead with 9:58 remaining in the first quarter. After a Hawkeye three and out, the Trojans drove down the field and ended the drive with a 10 yard touchdown run by Ryan Wiaterowski for a 16-0 Nanticoke lead.

Hanover Area was able to move the chains on a third and 10 as Al-Quron Michel went to Issac Robaczewski for 12 yards. The drive stalled and were forced to punt, the punt ended up being blocked and the Trojans got the ball at the Hawkeye 20 yard line. Three lays later, Fox scores his second touchdown of the game from 13 yards out and a 24-0 in the first quarter.

After Nanticoke’s defense forced another three and out, it only took one play as Seth Raymer found Jaidyn Johnson deep and scored from 54 yards out and a 31-0 lead early in the second quarter. The defense continued to stifle Hanover Area’s offense. Senior lineman Michael Park scored from two yards out with 7:59 in the second quarter. The big highlight was Zack Fox scoring from 56 yards out to become Nanticoke’s all-time leading rusher, surpassing Jason Mitkowski. We hit half with the Trojans leading 45-0. Late in the third quarter, Gavin Turak scored from five yards out to make it 52-0. Only scoring in the fourth quarter was a safety to make it 54-0 and that ended up becoming the final score.

Nanticoke qualified for the District 2 4A Playoffs and it’s looking like they will be the number five seed going in. “I feel like we have good chemistry together and we’ve been building it all season and we’ve had the playoff mindset since the beginning of the season.” said Trojans senior running back Zack Fox.
