Neumann Goretti on Saturday afternoon hoisted the Philadelphia Catholic League championship plaque after a hard fought 20-7 win over Conwell Egan. The 2025 season has been anything but a walk in the park for the Saints as they lost their starting QB in week 1 and had to readjust their offense mid-season. Today their offense heavily relied on the legs and power of Jr RB A’mar Woodson who rushed for a touchdown in each half while totaling over 100 yards on the ground.

The first quarter began with both teams feeling one another out on their first possessions forcing points. On the Saints second possession they relied on a heavy dosage of A’mar running the ball in between the tackles driving 70 yards where A’mar cashed in to give the Saints an early 6-0 lead. The score remained the same at the half despite Egan driving late in the 2nd quarter into the red zone only to turn the ball over on downs. Egan Jr WR Jaeden Thorn made a fantastic interception late in the second quarter to give the Eagles a chance to tie the game but their offense failed to capitalize. The Saints scored once again in the 3rd quarter when A’mar took a handful of carries to drive the Saints down the field and cap it off with a short touchdown run to extend the lead to 12-0. Egan played hard and was able to sustain offense driving the ball once again into the red zone but a failed pass on 4th down gave the Saints the ball again via a turnover on downs. Neumann would ice the game with just over 2 minutes left when they intercepted a pass deep in Egan territory and So RB Da’ir Munson punched it in from 3 yards out to extend the lead to 20-0. Egan with time running out got on the board with a short running touchdown in their two minute offense to make the final score 20-7.

Neumann with the win are your Catholic League 3A champions and move on to face the Public League 3A champions next Saturday at the South Philadelphia supersite. The win is bittersweet for the Saints as last year they experienced a down season in which they went 5-6 overall including losing this same PCL 3A title game to Conwell Egan 21-0.
