Penn State players were expected to be a part of the 2025 NFL Draft, and two of them were selected in the first round.
#3 New York Giants: Abdul Carter
The Seton LaSalle turned Penn State and now New York Giant player gets his name called in the top 3, as expected. Carter was a game wrecker at Penn State, racking up sacks and TFLs left and right. Now, he enters the Big Apple with big expectations. The Giants pair Carter with superstar Dexter Lawrence on the defensive line and expect them to make a difference instantly. The fit for Carter is one of the best he could ask for. Many highly-touted Edge rushers get forced into a system that requires them to be the hero on day one. That won’t happen to Carter. The Philadelphia native will not be the main focus of the scouting report to other teams, at least at the start. Expect teams to fear the veteran in Lawrence still, allowing for Carter to excel year one.
#14 Indianapolis Colts: Tyler Warren
Expect anything different? Ever since the draft order was finalized, many, including myself, penciled in Warren to Indy. After Michigan Tight End Colston Loveland jumped Warren to be the first TE drafted, Warren slipped, just barely. The Colts did not allow the slight dip to continue any longer when they pulled the trigger at pick 14. Warren enters a good situation to express his versatility. Indianapolis needs a do-it-all Tight End, and they just got one. For a team that is predicated on running the ball, Warren is more than capable in that role. His main use, however, will be as the safety blanket for whoever is behind center when September rolls around. The Colts were considering trading up for Warren, but they were able to stay put and take their guy, who will make an instant impact. In a league that values player versatility, Warren will be a major beneficiary of the ever-changing landscape that is the National Football League
