Penn Hills defeats Penn Trafford 63-28 to advance to the second round of playoffs.

Penn Hills came into the game with an 8-2 record as section champions.  Penn Trafford came in with a 5-5 record looking to upset Penn Hills and move on in the playoffs.  The first drive for both teams was a punt.  On Penn Hills second drive of the game Amir Key got the scoring started with a rushing touchdown to go up 7-0 with 7:40 left in the first quarter.  Later with one minute left in the first Julian Duggar threw a pass touchdown to Corey Thomas to go up 14-0.

The score at the end of the first quarter was 14-0.  Penn Trafford got their first points of the with nine minutes left in the second quarter when Tasso Wipple ran the ball in for a touchdown.  About a minute later with 7:52 left in the second quarter Julien Duggar had a rushing touchdown to make the game 21-7. Tasso Wipple had his second rushing touchdown of the game with 7 minutes left in the second quarter to make the score 21-14.  Dallas Hooper has a Penn Hills rushing touchdown with 6 minutes left in the second quarter to make the score 28-14.  Julien Duggar had a pass touchdown with four minutes left in half to make the score 35-14.  With one minute left in the first half Amir Key had his second rushing touchdown of the game to make the score 42-14.  On the last play of the second half Corey Thomas intercepted the ball in the endzone to end the half the score was 42-14.

Penn Trafford received the ball to start the second half. On the first drive with 9:10 left in the third quarter Penn Hills recovered the Penn Trafford fumble.  Eleven seconds later Julien Duggar threw a pass touchdown to Corey Thomas to make the score 49-14.  Later in third quarter with 1:45 left Tasso Wipple had another rushing touchdown to make it 49-21. It was 49-21 at the end of the third quarter.  Eleven seconds into the fourth quarter Penn Hills scored a rushing touchdown to extend their lead to 56-21.  With 7:17 left in the game Penn Hills scored their final points on fumble return by Corey Thomas to make the score 63-21.  Nick Reiff caught a touchdown with 1:13 left in the game to make the score 63-28.  The final score was 63-28 Penn Hills.

 

Penn Trafford’s season ended with the loss and Penn hills will go on to play three seeded Pine-Richland next week in the second round of the playoffs.
