Randy Guthrie Carries Comets to 48-0 win over J.P McCaskey Red Tornado.

Kicking things off in this season finale was Randy Guthrie breaking one loose to make this game 6-0 after a missed PAT. Following the score, the Red Tornado were driving, in pursuit of the 50 yard line, until Senior Quarterback Qua’May Pettway fumbled, giving the Comets great field position.

However, J.P McCaskey forced Penn Manor to turn the ball over on downs, shortly after. J.P McCaskey punted within four plays and Randy Guthrie took another run to the endzone for a 12-0 lead. The story of the Red Tornado season was displayed in their next drive. Their true inability to gain a consistent rhythm. Qua’May Pettway was intercepted, setting up Randy Guthrie’s hat trick in just the start of the second quarter and extending the Comet lead to 20.

After a series of punts towards intermission, this time it was Junior Quarterback Connor Smeigh connecting with his upperclassman receiver, Elijah Garland for six and a 27-0 lead. J.P McCaskey fell short on points a few minutes later, turning the ball over on downs inside the Comets 10 yard line. With about a minute remaining in the first half, more points on the board for Penn Manor was saved by McCaskey Senior Armani Rivera closing the half with an impressive over the shoulder interception.

Rinse and repeat throughout the second half. J.P McCaskey opened the half with a punt and Penn Manor capitalized with Connor Smeigh connecting for his second passing touchdown of the night, this time to Junior receiver Elijah Valentin for a 34-0 Comets lead. Randy Gutherie followed within 3 minutes later with his 4th rushing score of the night to end the 3rd quarter. The consecutive scoring from the Comets warranted a long McCaskey and it was just that.

As the Red Tornado slowly drove down the field, they eventually faced a 3rd & 30 due to an abundance of duress in the pocket and crucial holding calls. 4th and medium was a go for the Red Tornado and Coach Todd Mealy with nothing to lose and they could not convert, giving Penn Manor decent field position and setting up ideal time for the rock in Randy Gutherie’s hands. The rock certainly did end up in Randy’s hands as he topped this one off and closed out the PIAA 2025 Football Season for both these teams, ending this one, 48-0.

The J.P McCaskey Red Tornado finished their season 0-10 with a 0-6 record in the Lancaster-Lebanon Conference.

While the Penn Manor Comets finished their season 3-7 with a 2-4 record in the Lancaster-Lebanon Conference, including a season finale win at home in this one.
