Penn State Routs Purdue

With just 3 weeks remaining in the College Football regular season, Penn State gears up for what should be a breeze of an end to the season. The first of the three contests was in West Lafayette to take on Purdue.

The Purdue Boilermakers have struggled a lot in 2024. Their lone win came against non-FBS Indiana State. The Boilermakers are also winless in BIG10 play. They have lost in blowouts in many of their games this year. Quite frankly, there is not much to write home about so far, and that trend continued against Penn State.

After a dominant Whiteout win, Penn State focused its radar on the previously mentioned Purdue Boilermakers. With Minnesota and Maryland remaining outside Purdue, the country will learn much about Penn State. If they can win convincingly, the National Title is still on the table. If they struggle, many would believe that the playoff will not go well for Penn State. This game against Puride was not a “can you win” game but a “how much will you win by”. They won by a lot.

On the opening drive, Drew Allar and Tyler Warren were in sync, like always. Allar went 5/5 on the opening drive, with Warren accounting for 3 of those completions. But it was Kaytron Allen who put the first points on the board.

After a couple of defensive stops, Allar found Tyler Warren on a jump ball to make it 14-0.

Tyler Warren has impressed time and again, but in the first quarter of the game against Purdue, Warren had 6 catches for 81 yards and a TD. Those numbers, especially at the college level, would be great for the whole game, let alone the first quarter. After the noise that was circulating of slow starts, Penn State has since silenced that with 2 great first halves against Washington and Purdue.

With Penn State leading by multiple scores in the second half, it was all but over. That, however, did not stop Drew Allar from playing well. Allar found Harrison Wallace III on a 46-yard TD to give Penn State an insurmountable lead.

This was one of the best games Drew Allar has played as a Nittany Lion. He was efficient, calm, and accurate. He also had some beautiful runs sprinkled in to make it a full body of work.

In the end, Penn State was able to prevail with a final score of

When speaking with PSU players last week, they would not let the lowly Boilermakers halt their play. They did not allow them to stick around at all. The opening drive set the stage for the rest of the game. They were surgical, although against a bad football team. They exit the season with 2 more games: Minnesota and Maryland. Could James Franklin achieve his first 11-win regular season at Penn State? Only time will tell.
