Peters Township left no doubt on Friday night, delivering a dominant 35-0 shutout victory over McKeesport. Behind a balanced offense, a suffocating defense, and big plays on both sides of the ball, the Indians set the tone early and never let the Tigers find their footing.

Peters Township dominantly started the game, marching right down the field on the opening drive and capping it off with a passing touchdown to Lucas Rost. That score put the Indians up 7-0 with 8:18 left in the first quarter. McKeesport’s first drive was far less successful, going three-and-out—a theme that would repeat throughout the day. After trading punts, Peters regained possession and carried the ball into the second quarter.

McKeesport’s defense came out strong to start the second quarter, forcing Peters to punt. However, the Tigers’ momentum didn’t last long. Standout four-star Pitt commit Reston Lehman jumped a pass, picked it off, and raced down the sideline for a Peters Township pick-six, stretching the lead to 14-0 with 6:48 left in the first half. Hoping to respond, the Tigers’ offense again stalled and was forced to punt with five minutes remaining. Peters then put together a steady drive, controlling the clock all the way down to the final seconds of the half. With just 14 seconds left, Thomas Aspinall powered into the end zone to make it a three-score game. The half ended with Peters Township firmly in control, leading 21-0.

McKeesport received the ball to start the second half but failed to generate any momentum, running just five plays before punting it back to the red-hot Indians with 9:20 left in the third quarter. Peters wasted no time extending their lead, as Mark Ripepi found the end zone at the 2:57 mark, making it 28-0.

Things quickly went from bad to worse for the Tigers. On the ensuing kickoff, a fumble gave Peters prime field position at the McKeesport 39-yard line. The Indians capitalized once again, with Lucas Rost hauling in his second touchdown of the day to push the commanding lead to 35-0 with just 49 seconds left in the third.

The fourth quarter brought no change, as both teams traded punts and the clock wound down. When it was all said and done, Peters Township closed out a dominant performance with a 35-0 shutout victory over McKeesport.

Peters Township’s offense was firing on all cylinders, consistently finding answers against the Tigers’ defense. A key highlight was the dominance of the offensive line, which provided quarterback Nolan Dilucia with a clean pocket and the time he needed to pick apart McKeesport’s secondary. With the 35-0 victory, the Indians improve to 2-0 on the season and carry plenty of momentum into next week’s home matchup against the Mt. Lebanon Blue Devils.

The McKeesport Tigers drop to 1-1 on the season, and the biggest takeaway from this game is just how much five-star Penn State commit Kemon Spell means to their success. His absence due to injury was felt on both sides of the ball, leaving the Tigers searching for answers. They’ll look to regroup quickly as they host Thomas Jefferson next week in a highly anticipated Class 4A WPIAL championship rematch.
