MOON, PA – The Peters Township Indians were victorious over the Moon Area Tigers Friday evening, 23-14.

A defensive showdown ensued during the first quarter, with both teams exchanging multiple three-and-outs and punts. This would be until later in the quarter, when a shanked punt from Moon would set Peters up deep inside Tigers territory. The Indians would capatilize with a one-yard rushing touchdown from Nick Courie.

Both team’s offenses would again go quiet, until nearly a full quarter later when Moon would finally respond. Andrew Cross found Jared Moyer deep down the middle of the field for the 75-yard touchdown. Peters Township would try to run out the remaining clock halftime, before Moyer again would come up huge for the Tigers. A strip sack from Moyer picked up by Nick Clemons for the scoop-and-score gave Moon their first lead of the night, under two minutes after they trailed by 7.

Again a punt-fest would take over, until 5:36 remaining in the 3rd when Nick McCullough took the Moon punt 80-yards to the house, tying the game back up at 14. Nick Courie would find the end zone again on a 2-yard score with 0:31 seconds remaining in the 3rd, putting Peters back on top. Later in the 4th, Andrew Cross would be under pressure in his own endzone, throwing the ball away, but a flag against Moon resulted in a safety for the Indians. Both teams would exchange possessions resulting in no points, giving Peters Township the 23-14 victory.

Peters Township advances to 6-1, and picks up their first conference win after falling to Upper Saint Clair last week. The Indians will host South Fayette next Friday in McMurray. Moon Area falls to 3-4 overall and 0-2 in conference following a 45-36 loss at Bethel Park last week. The Tigers will be on the road next week when they take on a Baldwin team still searching for their first win.
