The 2025 season kicks off this Friday and there are a lot of familiar names returning in District 6. This quarterback group is very impressive, while the running backs are also looking quite strong. Lets dive into the top returning running backs in the District 6.
Nasir Collins – Mount Union – 2027
Collins is the best returning running back and he is just a junior this season. His game on the field is unstoppable and defenders struggle to bring him down. While the Trojans lost their power back in Josh Ryan, Collins will be able to carry an offense with nearly the entire offensive line returning. His speed may push Mount Union to the top of the ICC.
2024 stats
- Rushing : 1,799 Yards, 23 Touchdowns, 10 Yards Per Carry
- Receiving : 178 Yards, 2 Touchdowns, 19.8 Yards Per Catch
Taurean Consiglio – Bishop Guilfoyle – 2026
Consiglio will be given the big task to carry this Marauders offense as they look to defend their state title at the 1a level. With a new quarterback and receiving core, Consiglio will be counted on highly in this revamped offense. With four returning offensive lineman, Consiglio could end up as the top rusher in District 6 this season, while sending Bishop Guilfoyle back to the state playoffs.
2024 stats
- Rushing : 1,283 Yards, 17 Touchdowns, 7.6 Yards Per Carry
- Receiving : 272 Yards, 4 Touchdowns, 11.8 Yards Per Catch
Rocco Reifer – Moshannon Valley – 2027
Reifer is the second top rusher in the ICC, giving Moshannon Valley a chance to compete against Mount Union and Claysburg Kimmel. The Black Knights are going to be a tough team once again and Reifer as the star rusher again will be why. They lost their other top rusher from last season, so Reifer will be relied upon heavily and that should set them up nicely.
2024 stats
- Rushing : 1,470 Yards, 10 Touchdowns, 7.1 Yards Per Carry
Alex McCartney – Bellwood-Antis – 2027
McCartney is finally back for his junior season after missing his sophomore year to an ACL injury. Now that he is healthy, the Blue Devils offense is looking lethal with two key rushers headlined by McCartney. They also have a veteran line, perfect for McCartney to return to his ways from freshman year of a tough player to tackle.
2023 stats
- Rushing : 1,162 Yards, 12 Touchdowns, 5.4 Yards Per Carry
Jon Delia – Bishop McCort-Carrol – 2026
Delia is another top rusher coming back in the LHAC and with a veteran line coming back, he should be up for a monster season. His size and speed will be tough to tackle, setting Delia up as one of the most dangerous skilled guys on the field this year. Bishop McCort-Carrol could run the conference this season and have a shot at the D6 2A title and Delia will be the main factor taking them there.
2024 stats
- Rushing : 842 Yards, 10 Touchdowns, 5.9 Yards Per Carry
- Receiving : 271 Yards, 1 Touchdown, 11.3 Yards Per Catch
Joe McAneny – Richland – 2026
McAneny is a big piece returning to the Rams, making them a dangerous team once again. Two strong quarterbacks are back and so is McAneny. This offense will be very tough to stop and with McAneny headlining the group in the backfield, he should go off for more yards this season. He is a very big back, making him tough to tackle and paired with his speed, makes him an outstanding rusher.
2024 stats
- Rushing : 866 Yards, 12 Touchdowns, 6 Yards Per Carry
Landen Valente – Westmont-Hilltop – 2027
Valente is the top returner to a Hilltoppers team that looks to improve off their 0-10 performance in 2024. Valente is set for a big season under new head coach and is a stellar runner in their power rushing offense. Maybe their scheme changes, but regardless Valente will be a great weapon for them to score more in 2025.
2024 stats
- Rushing : 757 Yards, 5 Touchdowns, 6 Yards Per Carry
Colin Gibbons – Bellwood-Antis – 2026
Gibbons pairs with McCartney for a dominant backfield in Bellwood. Maybe this year he goes out more as a receiver like 2023, but his impressive running ability from 2024 may set him up to do both. Gibbons is a smaller player, but his shifty ability makes him a tough player to tackle. Bellwood is dangerous this year and Gibbons will be one of the main guys moving the ball down field.
2024 stats
- Rushing : 688 Yards, 7 Touchdowns, 5.7 Yards Per Carry
- Receiving : 376 Yards, 2 Touchdowns, 11.4 Yards Per Catch
Andrew Clark – Juniata Valley – 2027
Clark was a bruising rusher for the Hornets last season and looks to do so once again. Juniata Valley struggled last season, but with Clark as the main rusher this season they should be able to improve. He is tough to bring down and is likely the biggest runner in the ICC. Returning their two main quarterbacks should help open the run game for him as well.
2024 stats
- Rushing : 476 Yards, 8 Touchdowns, 5.2 Yards Per Carry
Colton Chapman – Philipsburg-Osceola – 2026
Chapman headlines the returning bunch for the Mountaineers and should help them more offensively this season. They lost their key weapon in Sam McDonald, but Chapman should still help them move the ball efficiently. Philipsburg also brings back their quarterback so that should open up the run game for Chapman more this season.
2024 stats
- Rushing : 448 Yards, 6 Touchdowns, 4.8 Yards Per Carry
