Hello and welcome to this week’s edition of PFN’s Willie is Cookin’ In Philly. Hard to believe August is over, and now all the schools are back in school. Here’s hoping that we start seeing the stadiums more filled on Friday and Saturday’s Now it’s time to look at What’s Cookin’ In Philly
Opponent Can’t Win if They Don’t Score: In their first two games under new head coach Nick Felus, the Neshaminy Redskins have yet to yield a point on the season with back-to-back shutouts of Emmaus and Council Rock North. The Redskins defense is being overseen by former Morrisville Head Coach Mitch Cohen
Run Stops Here: Through the first two games season, opponents of Bishop Shanahan have combined to rush for a combined total of Negative 100 yards.
Historic Night In Coatesville: Friday Night’s 49-46 victory over Smyrna (DE) was a historic night for the Coatesville Red Raiders. Not only was the win Coach Matt Ortega’s 150th win with the program, but in the game, Matt Ortega Jr broke the school’s record for passing touchdowns in a single game with 7.
Sun Valley Collecting Items for Military Appreciation: During their next two home games Friday (9-5 vs Upper Perkiomen and 9-12 vs Wissahickon) The Sun Valley touchdown will be accepting donations of Liquid IV, Single Serve Drink Packs, Non Chocolate Candy, Tastykakes, Beef Jerky, Cookies, Trail Mix along with Baby and foot powder Deodorant, Sunblock, Babywipes, Toothpaste, Toothbrushes and Dental Floss all of which will go in care packages for members of our military.
New Faces No Problem: Despite losing their entire backfield from a year ago, the Strath Haven Panthers wing-t offense is still humming right along. So far this season, the Panthers have rushed for a total of 750 yards and 10 touchdowns. Yosef Ali leads the team with 197 rushing yards on 18 carries, while Landon Barlow is the team leader in touchdowns with 6.
Date Change: The Downingtown East at Boyertown game originally scheduled for September 12 has been moved up to Thursday, September 11, due to the ongoing official shortage affecting games throughout PA.
