The Game

#2 Jenkintown Drakes @ #1 Morrisville Bulldogs

MORRISVILLE HOST JENKINTOWN FOR THE DISTRICT 1 1A TITLE

There are not many teams  in District 1 that are in the smallest classification 1A, which means Morrisville and Jenkintown will battle it out in round 1 of the playoffs for the District 1 1A title Friday night. Jenkintown will make the short trip to Morrisville Friday for the District 1 crown and the right to move on in the PIAA playoffs. These teams are very familiar with each other having already faced off twice this year, splitting the two games

#1 Morrisville

About the Bulldogs:

Coach Mitch Cohen’s Bulldogs enter the playoffs coming off a 5-5 season, after winning only 3 games in the previous two seasons, they  boast of a 4-1 record at home this season. The offense, which will be triggered by QB Ky’iere Rankins, has averaged 21.6 points per game. It is no secret what the Bulldogs are going to do when they have the ball, they are going to run the ball. RB Raymond Holman has rushed for 1,502 yards with 16 TDs. The Bulldog’s game plan is simple, get behind their large offensive line, that averages 6’2” and 260 pounds and run the ball. Morristown’s defense is much improved over last year giving up only 16 points per game.

#2 Jenkintown

About the Drakes:

Coach Luke Ashenbrenner’s Drakes have had difficulties scoring this year, as they head into their match up with Morristown they have their best scoring quarter fresh in their memory. Jenkintown was able to storm back against Morrisville, scoring 15 points in the last 8 minutes, to overtake the Bulldogs 18-14 in Jenkintown. For the Drakes offense to get on track they will need their running back tandem of Keegan Eichert and Nick Dvalishvili to gain some tough yards running the rock. On defense the Drakes will rely on their linebacker duo of Seth Porter and Max Bellew to stop the potent running attack of Morrisville.
