Protime Predictions Week 11, 2021

| November 11, 2021

This past Saturday Protime’s Sunday School class had a coffee and doughnut social event where everyone could turn out and chat about anything that came to mind.  Well, the subject quickly turned to creatures that people had dealt with in their homes over the years such as rodents and snakes.

This did not sit well with the lovely Mrs. Protime.  Talk of snakes, rats, mice, chipmunks, and bats roaming free around the house gave her the willies.  In fact, the past few nights Protime has been awakened from his normally tranquil sleep by a screaming Mrs. P as she has had nightmares about seeing a variety of these creatures scurrying, crawling, and flying about her house.  Protime noticed that ‘Willard’ and ‘Ben’ are the double feature on one TV channel tonight, ‘Anaconda’ is on another station, and ‘Dracula’ is on the classic TV station.  Protime is going to suggest board games for the evening.

Speaking of creatures, it appears Protime has done well this year no matter what the nickname is for the schools he predicts.  Last week his record was 22-4 which bumped his overall record for the year to 248-56 (81.8%).  Below are the fabled forecaster’s incredible insights for week two of the playoffs.

Muncy 10-1 vs. Canton 10-0 @ Towanda – The #1 ranked Muncy Indians have a real test in fighting the Canton Warriors this week.  Muncy edged beat Canton last year in the D-4 finals 21-16.  Freshman Austin Johnson, who is 6’2” 210 pounds, leads the Indians in rushing with 1,096 yards and 16 TDs.  RB Ty Nixon has 949 yards and 15 scores.  Then there’s the Eyer to Eyer deep threat in the passing game.  Branson Eyer has thrown for 1,041 yards and 12 TDs, while his cousin, Ross Eyer has 485 yards receiving and scored 6 TDs.  Bailey Hadzinikolov has brought down 143 ball carriers on defense, while cohort Jason Straub has 120 tackles for the Indians.  Canton’s Weston Bellows has 1,250 all-purpose yards, RB Riley Parker has traversed for 987 yards with 16 scores, and QB Cooper Kitchen has tossed 6 TD passes.  Protime is going with the slight upset and taking Canton 21-16.

Clearfield 11-0 @ Bedford 9-1 – The Battle of the Buffalo Part II.  Last year the Bedford Bisons travelled to Clearfield and beat the Bison 40-21.  Protime knows Clearfield is better this year with the likes of 6’5” 250-pound Oliver Billotte (O.B.) at quarterback, Karson Kline at the wide receiver slot, and Mark McGonigal at running back.  Billotte has 1,623 yards passing (21 TDs) and 600 yards rushing (16 TDs).  Kline has caught 49 balls thrown his way for 980 yards and 14 TDs.  McGonigal has 1,014 yards rushing and 13 TDs.   Mercury Swaim is the main cog in not only Bedford’s offense, but defense as well as he is the leading tackler.  Swaim has thrown for 959 yards and rushed for 958 yards.  He has 13 TD tosses and 15 runs into the end zone.  Ethan Weber has 1,100 all-purpose yards and RB Trenton Price has ground out 722 yards and 8 scores.  Because this game is a toss-up and likely to go down to the final buzzer, Protime has to go with his gut like Leroy Jethro Gibbs on NCIS, – Bedford 34 Clearfield 27.

Cedar Cliff 9-2 @ Shippensburg 11-0 – When Colts and Greyhounds get together the action should be face-paced.  Cedar Cliff possesses one of the top backs in the state in their corral.  Jontae Morris has galloped for 1,800 yards and 22 touchdowns to date.  QB Ethan Dorrell has pitched the pigskin for 1,402 yards and 15 TDs.  His top WR, Trenton Smith has snared 49 passes for 778 yards and a half dozen TDs.  Hunter Garced is the Colts’ top tackler.  The Greyhounds of Shippensburg counter with Tucker Chamberlin at QB.  He has 1,100 yards passing and 14 TD tosses.  Erby Miller is his go to guy with 36 catches for 744 yards and 10 TDs.  RBs Traevon Kater (803 yards-6 TDs) and Amari Kerr (636 yards-10 TDs) anchor the ground game.  Protime’s coin flip has Cedar Cliff winning an ‘oh so close’ game 24-23.

Thomas Jefferson 7-2 @ Hampton 11-0 – TJ Jaguar quarterback, Joe Lekse has 876 yards passing with 12 TDs and 511 yards rushing with 13 TDs.  Jag running back, Elias Lippincott has 751 yards via the ground and 11 touchdowns scored.  TJ’s top receiver, Sean Sullivan has 509 yards receiving and has hauled in 6 passes for TDs.  The Talbots of Hampton have a couple of 1,000-yard rushers in Christian Liberto and Brock Borgo.  Liberto has 1,161 yards and 15 scores, while Borgo has 1,088 yards and 17 TDs.  This is Hampton’s best season in program history.  They were 9-0 in 2001 but lost to eventual state champ, West Allegheny in the playoffs.  This is Thomas Jefferson’s lowest seed in the D-7 tournament since 1999, but Protime has the Jaguars eking out a 17-14 win over the Talbots.

Bethlehem Freedom 9-2 @ Northampton 11-0 – The Freedom Patriots have a pair of gamers in QB Brian Taylor and RB Deante Crawford.  Taylor has thrown for 1,321 yards and has 15 TD tosses.  Crawford has 1,392 yards rushing with 22 goal line crossings.  Wide receivers Owen Johnson and Ethan Neidig have each caught 6 TD passes.  Johnson leads the team with 506 yards receiving.  Johnson also is the leading tackler on defense.  The Koncrete Kids (gotta love that nickname) have Cooper King at quarterback.  He has passed for 953 yards and 6 TDs.  Tristan Pinnock has snagged all 6 of those TD passes.  RB Caden Henritzy has been known to put on the ritz running the ball.  He has 776 yards on the ground and scored 9 times.  Luisi Everett is the Kids’ leading tackler.  Protime is calling an upset here (or is it) – Freedom 31 Northampton 24.

Reynolds 6-4 @ Cochranton 8-0 – This game should be over in 2 hours or less as Cochranton rarely throws the ball as evidenced by their 159 total yards passing this year and Reynolds is a little over 400.  These 2 teams ground and pound.  Jalen Wagner is the Reynolds Raiders’ main running back with 1,086 yards and 16 TDs.  Hayden McLaughlin has 7 TD runs for the Raiders.  Jack Martinec is the guy for the Cardinals of Cochranton.  In only 8 games he has accumulated 1,682 yards and scored 21 touchdowns.  He has rushed for 80% of his team’s total yards.  The Cardinals’ record is phenomenal considering most weeks there are only 15 to 16 healthy players on their sidelines.  Protime loves a good story and would love to pick Cochranton, but he has to go with Reynolds 20-14.

Central Bucks West 9-2 @ Garnet Valley 11-0 – Even though everyone turned their clocks back last Saturday night, the Bucks would love to turn their clocks back to the 1990s and real early 2000s.  The next best thing is the current C.B. West team.  Led by running backs Eli Boehm (740 yards-10 TDs) and Donte Mancini (704 yards-9 TDs), the Bucks have a formidable ground game.  QB Ganz Cooper has scored 8 times on the ground and will throw on occasion.  One of the highest scoring teams in Pennsylvania, the Garnet Valley Jaguars have some genuine playmakers.  Max Busenkill has 1,447 yards passing with 21 TDs and only one interception thrown.  WR Sean Gallagher has caught 34 passes for 763 yards and 11 TDs.  Their running game is by committee.  Ryan Saunders has 16 TDs, Shane Reynolds has 9 TDs as does Jason Bernard.  Joey Halloran heads up the Jag defense.  Garnet Valley 35 C.B. West 24.

Richland 9-2 @ Bellwood-Antis 10-1 – Richland’s losses were to state ranked Bedford and Central, while Bellwood’s loss came at the hands of state ranked Juniata Valley.  Kellen Stahl calls signals for the Richland Rams.  He has 1,954 yards passing and 28 TD tosses to date.  RB Graydon Lewis has 1,453 all-purpose yards and 9 rushing TDs.  Griffin Larue has 642 receiving yards with 10 touchdowns.  Brock Batche leads the Ram defense in tackles and Larue has 6 picks.  Bellwood QB Zach Pellegrine has aired it out for 1,093 yards and 15 TD passes.  RB Connor Gibbons has rushed for 1,385 yards and 16 scores to date.  WR Sean Mallon has hauled down 7 TD passes.  Cooper Guyer is the man on the Blue Devil defense.  Richland will win 27-10.

Pottsgrove 8-2 @ Bishop Shanahan 8-3 – Protime has named this game the Battle of the Birds.  The Pottsgrove Falcons fly into Downingtown to take on the Shanahan Eagles.  Pottsgrove is led offensively by QB Ryan Sisko and his 838 yards passing and 13 touchdown passes.  RB Amir Brunson has 731 yards rushing with 9 TDs.  WR Tyler Kaufman has grabbed 6 TD tosses.  Defensively, Max Neeson has the most tackles for the Falcons.  Shanahan’s offense centers around Cooper Jordan.  The signal-caller has 1,519 yards passing and another 896 yards running the ball.  Jordan has thrown 23 touchdown passes and has scored 11 TDs via the ground.  WR Colin McGrory has snared 13 of those TD tosses.  One of the leaders on the Eagle line is Dylan Jones.  Shanahan 30 Pottsgrove 27.
