Protime Predictions – Are the Protimes College Scouts?

| November 2, 2023

Last week Protime took Protime Jr. to his game of the week.  Not long after the game started, a couple of excited ball boys came up to Junior and asked if he was a scout for the Ohio State Buckeyes because he was wearing his official Ohio State black quarter-zip pullover and tan pants.  “No,” replied Protime Jr., “I’m with PFN.”  “Oh,” they said dejectedly.

That small event conjured up memories for Protime.  He was once thought to be a Penn State scout when in college and attending a local high school game keeping stats.  Protime and his friend Russ once went to see the Pittsburgh Penguins in training camp and when they entered the building, they were directed to the locker room where they could change into their hockey gear.  Just think if Protime could skate, wouldn’t that have been a great story.  Some random guy (Protime) walks in off the street to hockey practice and winds up impressing everyone enough to sign a hockey contract.  One can always dream of what might’ve been.

Speaking of what might be, playoffs begin this week.  The playoff teams are excited, and the Guru of Guess is here to forecast many of the opening week contests.  Last week the Sultan of Swamis went 21-6 and sits at 205-51-1 (.800) for the year.

Phoenixville 28 West Chester East 21 – It’s Halloween season, so doesn’t it make sense to pick the Phantoms over the Vikings?

Gateway 24 Moon 21 – Best of five coin flips goes to the Gators of Gateway, but the Moon Tigers have a knack for close games so don’t be surprised they win.

ELCO 20 Big Spring 18 – Protime was hoping to make this game, but the fatigue factor has altered his schedule.  Give the Raiders the ‘W’ in a close one with the Big Spring Bulldogs.

Tyrone 34 Penn Cambria 27 – Maybe a slight upset here as the Golden Eagles fly past the Panthers.

Nazareth 40 Wilkes-Barre 22 – For awhile the Wolfpack should give the Blue Eagles a tough time, but in the end Nazareth’s Eagles fly high.

Clearfield 31 Punxsutawney 21 – The District Nine AAA championship game has the Bison coming out victorious against the Punxsy Chucks.

Conestoga Valley 28 Dover 13 – The Buckskins are having a nice season and continue to with the win over the Eagles of Dover.

Forest Hills 22 River Valley 21 – Protime feels the Rangers are a slightly better team.  We will see as the Panthers can win this one.

Bethlehem Freedom 14 Emmaus 10 – These two met a couple of weeks ago with Freedom winning 25-19.  Protime’s crystal Ball says that the Patriots win again in an even closer game with the Hornets.

Hickory 28 General McLane 17 – These Hornets will win, stinging the Lancers throughout the game.

Central Bucks South 17 Coatesville 14 – Protime is thinking this is not a good match-up for the C.B. South Titans, but he’s picking them anyway to do away with the Red Raiders.

Windber 27 North Star 26 – Windber lost 41-20 to North Star earlier this year.  Protime thinks Coach Grohal has fixed a couple things and the Ramblers edge the Cougars in the rematch.

Jersey Shore 38 Milton 20 – The Black Panthers of Milton do not give up many points, but they have not faced an offense like the Jersey Shore Bulldogs either.

California 29 Jeannette 23 – The Trojans beat the Jayhawks in a contest that can go either way.

Northeast 13 George Washington 7 – Down in District 12, this one will be a slobber knocking defensive struggle.  In the end, the Vikings will be just one score better than the Eagles of G.W.

Brockway 28 Union/AC Valley 12 – Brockway’s Rovers avenge one of their earlier losses in beating the Falcon Knights.  Union scored 12 points the first time and won.  They’ll score 12 again, but lose.

Riverside 21 Mid Valley 14 – Mid Valley defeated Taylor Riverside during the regular season.  This time the Vikings turn the tables and beat the Spartans.

Cambria Heights 27 West Branch 20 – The Highlanders grind out the ‘W’ over the Warriors in a hard-hitter.

Exeter 35 Hershey 21 – The Eagles of Exeter move on as they soar by the Trojans.

Allentown Central Catholic 34 Bangor 17 – The Slaters put up a good fight for awhile, but the A.C.C. Vikings are a tough out.

Fort Cherry 44 Jefferson Morgan 22 – The Rangers double up the Rockets.

Downingtown East 28 Wissahickon 7 – A small surprise as the Wissahickon Trojans keep the score close and actually score on a very good D’town East Cougar defensive unit.

Line Mountain 30 Towanda 18 – Lots of Eagles in the predictions this week.  Here we have another Eagle win.  This time the Black Knights are the victim.
