Protime Predictions – Bad Grill Day

Occasionally Protime likes to hearken back to yesteryear.  This week he will hearken back to this past spring.  All coaches will tell you football is a team game.  Well, Protime is here to tell all of you young whippersnappers out there that marriage is a team sport also.  You have to work together and at times listen to your spouse as she calls out the instructions.  Now Protime does procrastinate at times.  In this case, he failed in his mission from the lovely Mrs. P to check the grill to see if there was enough propane in the tank or if it even worked.

The opening day of grill season came and the crowd was large, 12-15 people are expecting Protime’s famous barbecued chicken.  And alas, the grill doesn’t start.  There is a backup plan, to use the George Foreman Grill, but that involves Mrs. P doing unanticipated work.  What happens when teammates don’t work together?  The responsible party goes to the doghouse.  Woof.  Protime was unleashed so to speak, and he’s been painting, cleaning, and taking shopping trips all summer long.

Protime stayed out of the football doghouse last week by going 21-4.  This week presents a challenge though, but your fabulously fantastic forecaster is up for it with these prognostications:

Susquehanna Township 3-0 @ West Perry 3-0 – Here’s a game that features contrasting offenses.  Township loves to throw, while W. Perry loves to run.  The Susquehanna Township Indians are led by QB Torin ‘TD’ Evans.  He has pitched the pigskin for 908 yards and 11 TDs plus he has yet to throw an interception.  The Indian defense is led by Ka’seemh Singleton-Brown, who has 45 recorded tackles in 3 games.  The Mustangs of West Perry has Brad Hockenberry at running back.  All he has done is rush for 615 yards and 10 touchdowns in his 3 games.  Protime looked into the crystal ball to discern the winner.  Susquehanna Township 34 West Perry 21.

Sharon 2-1 @ Hickory 3-0 – These two teams split the series last year with Hickory winning the more important game, the district championship.  Hickory is currently ranked 3rd in Class 3A, Sharon 10th.  The Tiger loss was to Cathedral Prep in a game Sharon actually led at the half.  This game could go either way as the contests do when these two play each other.  Protime had to flip a coin and the Hornets of Hickory will prevail 17-14.

Bethlehem Freedom 3-0 @ Nazareth 3-0 – Freedom is led by QB Chase Walker and his 605 passing yards and 6 TDs.  His top receiver, Shacre Colwell, has caught 4 touchdown tosses.  RB Aaron Beete has beat feet for 400 yards rushing and 4 scores.  The Patriot ‘D’ is led by Justin Peluso.  Nazareth’s quarterback, Peyton Falzone has 625 yards passing with 6 TDs.  His main target is Caleb Newsome who has grabbed 9 passes for 229 yards and 3 scores.  Jayden Wolf leads the Blue Eagle defense with 25 tackles.  Freedom 24 Nazareth 21 says the crystal ball.

North Hills 3-0 @ Pine-Richland 2-0 – The North Hills Indians are led offensively by QB Kelly McCarthy.  They’ve been playing good football and may bring a challenge to the P-R Rams.  Pine-Richland’s MacLane Miller has rushed for 299 yards and 4 touchdowns in their two games to date.  Pine-Richland should win.

Minersville 3-0 @ Williams Valley 3-0 – This is shaping up to be maybe one of the classic games of the week.  The Battlin’ Miners have a stud in quarterback Dante carr.  He has thrown for 493 yards and 8 scores.  On top of that he’s toted the agate for 395 yards and 7 touchdowns.  Paiten LaPointe is the leading receiver.  Logan Rizzardi has 29 tackles for Minersville.  The Vikings of Williams Valley are explosive on offense also.  QB Brady Shomper has passed for 450 yards and 7 TDs.  WR Kian Krzyanowski has hauled down 17 balls for 312 yards and 5 scores.  RB Fletcher Thompson has gained 300 yards in 3 games.  Trevon Bair is the top tackler on defense for the Vikes.  Williams Valley 37 Minersville 33 in a dandy of a game.

The Others:

North Penn 21 Neshaminy 14 – The Knights fight off the Redskins in a hard-fought District 1 game between two undefeated squads.

Penn Cambria 28 Bedford 14 – In another battle of unbeatens, the Panthers best the Bisons.

Conestoga Valley 28 Ephrata 26 – Protime loves this matchup of mascots, the Buckskins and the Mountaineers.  Reminds him of the Hatfields and McCoys.  Anyway, this one can go either way.  Both are good clubs.  In the end, Protime feels the CV Buckskins come out with bragging rights by whipping the Ephrata Mountaineers.

Karns City 34 DuBois 31 – Protime feels DuBois may win, but they need to prove it to him.  Meanwhile, hard to pick against KC with the way they’ve begun the season.  Gremlins by three over the Beavers.

Southern Columbia 28 Mount Carmel 20 – In an intense rivalry game where anything can happen, Protime feels the Tigers weather the storm from the Red Tornadoes.

Thomas Jefferson 31 Avonworth 14 – Avonworth’s Antelopes played Aliquippa last week and now the have the Jaguars of TJ.  Hopefully the rest of the schedule isn’t as tough.

West Philadelphia 22 Father Judge 14 – Protime was all set to pick Father Judge, but had a crystal ball vision that hurriedly said take the Speedboys over the Crusaders.

Northern Bedford 18 Everett 16 – District 5 is the scene of this contest and it will be very competitive with the Panthers being victorious over the Warriors.

Northwestern Lehigh 27 Blue Mountain 23 – An interesting matchup here will see the Northwestern Tigers escape by a fang as the Eagles give them all they can handle.

Titusville 28 Conneaut 12 – Protime thinks the Rockets cruise by the Eagles.

Pennsbury 32 Pennridge 28 – The Falcons fly by the Rams in a close one.

Hollidaysburg 24 Butler 14 – The Golden Tigers fight through the Golden Tornado for the win.

Riverside 21 Lake-Lehman 10 – In District 2 we find this gem where the Vikings conquer the Black Knights.

Jersey Shore 35 Shamokin 28 – Don’t be fooled by the score.  Both teams are undefeated and Shamokin is good.  The Indians will make a run at the Shore Bulldogs, but will succumb in the end.

South Park 13 Steel Valley 12 – This is a head scratcher.  Steel Valley has the potential but has not lived up to it yet.  Protime feels the Eagles put a feather in their helmet by beating the Ironmen.

Troy 42 Athens 28 – The Trojan War was a legendary conflict in Greek mythology.  This week in Troy a real battle will be settled on the football field when these Trojans vanquish the Wildcats of Athens.

Central 21 Bellwood-Antis 14 – The Dragons (scarlet in color) slay the Blue Devils by a touchdown.

Strath Haven 24 Radnor 17 – Strath Haven’s Panthers gives Radnor their first defeat by bringing down the Raptors.

Harbor Creek 20 Fairview 14 – This game is a toss-up in Protime’s book.  So, he tossed a coin and the Harbor Creek Huskies edge the Fairview Tigers.

West York 42 York Suburban 21 – In a battle of York, the Bulldogs prevail by knocking out the Trojans.
