Protime Predictions – Cartoon Characters

Protime was hearkening back to yesteryear again last week when the thought occurred to him, if Protime could be one real-life old-time cartoon character, who would it be?  It has to be someone suave and debonair like Bugs Bunny.  Mr. Magoo was a thought, but he couldn’t see and how would Protime be able to cover high school football games, let alone get to the games?  Maybe some speed like the Road Runner and Speedy Gonzales would be a good thing.  Then there’s George Jetson, a man of the future.  He was street smart and hard working, but he’s often befuddled and stressed out.  Protime doesn’t need that.

Maybe a southern drawl like Huckleberry Hound would help Protime’s image.  Should he have power and also be able to help the less fortunate like Mighty Mouse and Underdog?  That would definitely boost Protime’s image.  He likes Boo Boo and Barney Rubble, but he definitely is ruling out Foghorn Leghorn, Fred Flintstone, Porky Pig, Sylvester, Yosemite Sam, Snagglepuss, Yogi Bear, and Wile E. Coyote.  Roger Rabbit crossed his mind also, but he was married to Jessica Rabbit and the lovely Mrs. P wouldn’t be too happy about that.  On second thought, maybe Protime should just be content with being himself.  After all, that’s who Mrs. P married, not some cartoon character.

Mrs. Protime half-jokingly says Protime is a character.  Protime is undeterred by that comment and forges on.  Last week he went 20-5 and now sits at 248-60-1 (.804) for the year.  Here are the Famous Football Forecaster’s fabulous pigskin picks for the week, which may be the toughest prognostications yet this the year.

6A

Central Bucks West 21 Central Bucks South 17 – The Bucks beat the Titans for the second time.

Nazareth 20 Parkland 17 – Just a hunch that Parkland is without their starting QB.  All the same, the Blue Eagles kick it up a notch and beat the Trojans this time around.

Pittsburgh Central Catholic 42 North Allegheny 28 – The Vikings slay the Tigers for a second time, but in a closer game.

Harrisburg 26 Central York 19 – The Cougars take down the Panthers in a real cat fight giving Central their first loss of the year.

5A

Imhotep 22 Roman Catholic 20 – The Panthers are tested big time by the Cahillites before winning with late game heroics.

Pine-Richland 24 Peters Township 20 – It’s hard to bet against Pine-Richland this time of year.  The Rams move on and take down the Indians, the #2 team in the state.

Delaware Valley 31 Whitehall 21 – The Warriors eliminate the Zephyrs.

Cocalico 17 Cedar Cliff 14 – The Eagles beat the Colts in a real barn-burner.

4A

Selinsgrove 35 Bethlehem Catholic 28 – The Seals celebrate.  The Golden Hawks don’t.

McKeesport 27 Montour 20 – Protime originally had the Spartans, but there’s something about the McKeesport Tigers this year.

Manheim Central 45 Twin Valley 42 – This one should be an instant classic with the Barons toppling the Raiders.

Dallas 34 Valley View 31 – The Mountaineers fend off the Cougars.

3A

Avonworth 22 Elizabeth-Forward 21 – The Antelopes escape the Warriors and remain unbeaten.

Northwestern Lehigh 44 Palmerton 38 – District 11 offers this one between two undefeated teams.  Protime’s crystal ball has the Tigers winning over the Blue Bombers.

Central 31 Clearfield 21 – Close to the end, it looks like the Scarlet Dragons beat the Bison for a second time this year.

Neumann-Goretti 14 Scranton Prep 7 – Low scoring affair here finds the Saints outdueling the Cavaliers.

2A

Westinghouse 28 Central Clarion 27 – In a game between the #2 and #3 teams in the state and in a game that could go either way, the Bulldogs top the Wildcats.

Southern Columbia 33 Troy 28 – The Tigers give the Trojans their first loss and it’s a heart-breaker.

Bald Eagle Area 21 Richland 14 – The Bald Eagles fly by the Rams, but don’t be surprised if the Rams win.  Should be a good one.

Williams Valley 35 Dunmore 28 – The Vikings are a touchdown better than the Bucks.

1A

Steelton-Highspire 34 Northern Bedford 28 – Here’s another doozy that could go either way.  Protime’s coin flip has the Black Panthers losing to the Steamrollers.

Cambria Heights 22 Purchase Line 14 – The Highlanders get some revenge and beat the Dragons this time.

South Side Area 26 Clairton 20 – The Rams have stayed under the radar all year.  After beating the Bears, their stock will rise.

Lakeview 20 Cambridge Springs 12 – Protime liked what he saw in the Sailors last week, but the Blue Devils present a big problem.  Protime still likes Lakeview to beat Cambridge again.
