Protime Predictions – Fast Food Water Escapade

Just the other day the lovely Mrs. P and Protime had a hankering for some burgers and fries, so they journeyed to the nearest fast-food restaurant.  Protime just wanted some water to wash his food down with, so he was given a plastic cup and was told he could get it from the machine over there.  When Protime looked at the machine, there was nothing but advertisement icons for all kinds of drinks from soda pop to tea to flavored water, but no visible buttons to push for any of those drinks.  For a minute or more he just stared at all the drink ads.

Finally, he put his cup against the back and pressed a large round button.  Nothing.  Then it dawned on him to tap the water icon he had located.  Nothing.  He shrugged and pushed the cup against two metal prongs and ice came out.  Scratching his head, he quickly tapped the icon for water and then the big round button.  A little water came out in front of his cup.  Protime then moved his cup forward and pressed both again.  A little water streamed into his cup.  Aha, he thought as he pressed the water icon for 5 seconds.  Not a drop of water came out.  Then it dawned on him to press the big round button, and voila, water filled his cup.  Protime was beaming when he turned around only to have about 15 customers glaring at him because they all were waiting to get their drinks.

Well, no one has to wait for your premier pigskin predictor’s prognostications.  Protime went 17-7 last week in what was perhaps the toughest picks of the year.  He is 284-72-1 (.797) for the year.  Here are the picks for the state semis.

St. Joes Prep 42 C.B. South 21 – Again, Protime reiterates, it will be tough for anyone to beat not only the #1 team in PA, but the #8 team in the country.  Protime has been around, when you’re talking about one of the elite teams in the USA, you have to be one yourself to beat them.  The Titans of South won’t be intimidated but the size, speed, and athleticism of the Hawks cannot be ignored.

North Allegheny 38 Harrisburg 22 – Harrisburg is very good and their amazing comeback against Manheim Township last week puts them up there with some of the best in 6A.  But the NA Tigers are a different animal and the Cougars will have to work hard all 48 minutes.  Even that will not be quite enough.

Imhotep 28 Strath Haven 10 – The Panthers will make another finals appearance.  The Imhotep Panthers that is.  The Strath Haven Panthers had a fine year but they just aren’t quite on the level of Imhotep.

Peters Township 35 Cocalico 27 – The Indians are very, very good and have defeated some real good teams.  The Cocalico Eagles are very good themselves but will be added to the Township’s list.

Bishop McDevitt 34 Dallas 14 – The Crusaders were taken to the limit last week by Manheim Central.  They learned a big lesson and won’t allow that to happen again, despite the Mountaineers toughness and tenacity.

Aliquippa 28 Selinsgrove 24 – Protime says there will be some games that could go either way on paper.  This is one of them.  Protime was going to pull the trigger and go with the Seals, but his crystal ball said ‘no.’  The crystal ball says take the Quips in a really fantastic game of football.

Northwestern Lehigh 21 Wyomissing 20 – Here is the next contest that will go down to the end or even overtime.  Protime jumped on the NW Lehigh Tiger bandwagon after they pummeled Southern Lehigh, a 5A school.  But, don’t ever count a Bob Wolfrum team out.  Coach Wolfrum and Protime both like 50s and early 60s oldies by the way.  Protime wanted to go with the Spartans, but his coin flip said Northwestern Lehigh.

Southern Columbia 33 Dunmore 14 – Jim Roth is the winningest coach in the history of PA high school football and #3 in active coaches in the country!  He has helped his team find a way to beat Troy and BEA the past two weeks.  Both are top 5 team in 2A according to Protime.  The Bucks will be ready and will be physical, but they fall short against the Tiger tenacity.

Westinghouse 39 Beaver Falls 18 – All the credit in the world goes to the Beaver Falls Tigers.  No one thought they’d get this far and they did.  The Bulldogs have another date with Southern Columbia in the finals though.

Steelton-Highspire 36 South Williamsport 24 – Steelton will have their hands full early on, but the Steamrollers will kick it into overdrive and win by two scores over the Mountaineers of South Williamsport.

Fort Cherry 36 Redbank Valley 35 – In Protime’s opinion, this will be the game to see of all of the semi-final games.  This is another game that could swing either way.  Both teams can throw the ball well and have good sophomore quarterbacks.  Don’t be surprised this contest goes Redbank’s way as they have a great coach and staff.  The crystal ball called this game a tie three out of three times.  But we know there are no ties in playoff games.  So, the coin flip went Ft. Cherry’s way.  Fort Cherry’s nickname is the Rangers.  Redbank Valley’s nickname is the Bulldogs.
