Protime Predictions – Halloween Pumpkin Edition

Tagged under: News, pfn, Protime Predictions

| October 27, 2022

This weekend is Halloween and the Protimes have carved out a couple of pumpkins to set on the front porch at night.  Each pumpkin has a little candle inside giving the little jack-o-lanterns a majestic glow.  Protime and Mrs. Protime then settle in for the night to read, play games, or watch an old classic movie from the mid-1900s.  Of course, they are eating pumpkin ice cream and drinking pumpkin coffee to boot.

The Protimes forego watching what seems to be traditional viewings of Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc. as those movies lack certain qualities such as acting.  Those type of movies are supposed to scare you, but are in reality, laughable.  What is scary is when you’re a 160 lb. DB and a 6’2” 225 lb. freight train of a running back is bearing down on you and it doesn’t look like he’s going to try to juke you.  What is scary is if you’re a 160 lb. RB and as you hit the ‘A’ gap the opposing team’s 6’5” 330 lb. nose tackle is waiting for you with a big grin on his face.

Protime had a big smile on his face this week because he went 22-3 with his predictions last week.  He’s never scared either because his prognostications are just for fun.  Plus, coaches like to needle him about his picks which makes Protime feel accepted.  There are some really important games on tap this week, so without any more delays here are the forecasts of your Fantastic Football Fortuneteller.

Exeter Township 9-0 @ Manheim Central 9-0 – Man oh man, you got the #2 5A team visiting the #6 4A squad down in District 3.  The Exeter Eagles, who average 43 points per game, are led by QB Mason Rotelli, RB Richie Karstien, and WR Joey Schlaffer (Penn State commit).  Rotelli has thrown for 1,195 yards and 16 TDs.  He has 7 rushing TDs also.  Karstien has scurried around the field for 996 yards, scoring 15 TDs.  Schlaffer has hauled in 29 passes for 646 yards and 9 touchdowns.  Lucas Palange leads the high-flying Eagle defense that are going to have their hands full with the potent Manheim Baron offense that averages 56 points a game.  QB Zac Hahn has heaved the rock for 1,774 yards and 24 touchdowns for the Barons.  WR Aaron Enterline averages almost 30 yards a catch.  He has 27 grabs for an amazing 793 yards and 10 TDs.  WR Bode Sipel has caught 30 passes for 487 yards, scoring a half dozen TDs.  RB Brycen Armold can flat out run as evidenced by his 1,620 yards rushing and 24 touchdowns.  Jaden Weit and Nick Haas head up a pretty tough Manheim defense.  A gaze into the crystal ball finds Exeter beating Manheim Central 38-35.

Central Valley 9-0 @ Aliquippa 9-0 @ Freedom H.S. – The top game in the west features two of last year’s state champs.  Central Valley won the 3A title a year ago and Aliquippa captured the 4A trophy.  The C.V. Warriors moved up to 4A this year, average 48 points a game, and are ranked 4th.  The Quips are ranked #1, averaging 41 points a contest.  Both teams are absolutely loaded with talent.  The Warriors are led by QB Antwon Johnson, RB Bret Fitzsimmons, WR Jayvin Thompson, and PK Serafino Desantis.  Johnson is 30 yards shy of the thousand-yard club passing with 12 touchdowns.  Fitzsimmons has racked up 1,355 yards rushing and scored two dozen TDs.  Thompson has 25 snags for 499 yards and 9 TDs.  Desantis has nailed all but one extra point and has 3 FGs including one from 46 yards.  On defense, Jackson Tonya is a force.  He leads the Warriors in tackles, sacks, and tackles for loss.  The Quips’ QB Quentin Goode has passed for 1,321 yards and 13 TDs.  WR Brandon Banks has snared 22 passes for 357 yards and 6 scores.  Sophomore Tiqwai Hayes has accumulated 1,204 yards and 22 touchdowns carrying the pigskin.  A coin flip has Central Valley topping Aliquippa by a score of 17-14.

Downingtown West 7-1 @ Downingtown East 7-2 – Walter E. Kottmeyer Stadium should be rocking when these two 6A teams take the field.  West’s only loss was by one point to Perkiomen Valley.  East’s two losses were to #4 State College by one and #3 Coatesville by four.  The Whippets of Downingtown West are led by QB Quinn Henicle who has scored 8 rushing touchdowns and has throw for 853 yards and 14 TDs.  RB John Mulville has ground out 453 yards and scored 10 TDs.  Averaging 25 yards a catch, Jake Kucera has 457 yards receiving, scoring 10 TDs and Dean Hangey has 397 yards and 5 TDs.  Hangey leads the Whippet defensive unit.  The Cougars of Downingtown East are led offensively by their workhorse Bo Horvath.  Mr. Horvath has 1,540 yards to his credit and has scored 20 touchdowns.  QB Jamy Jenkins has not played every game, but still has thrown for 757 yards and 6 scores.  Protime has East triumphant over West 28-24.

Penns Manor 9-0 @ Berlin 9-0 @ Windber – The Appalachian Bowl pits the champion of the Heritage Conference (Penns Manor) against the WestPAC Champ (Berlin).  Penns Manor is ranked 7th in single A and Berlin is 8th in double A.  The Comets of P.M. average 39 points a game and are led by QB Max Hill.  Hill has rushed for 1,310 yards and scored 24 times, while throwing for 485 yards and 8 TDs.  RB Justin Marshall has 622 yards and 5 TDs.  Carter Smith is a really bright light for the Comets on ‘D’ with his 121 tackles.  Pace Prosser leads the Mountaineer offense that averages 46 points.  Prosser has pitched the pigskin for 1,206 yards and 17 touchdowns.  He also has scrambled for 414 yards and 7 more scores.  14 different players have scored rushing TDs for Berlin.  WR Ryan Blubaugh has snabbed 32 passes for 543 yards and 9 touchdowns.  Cody Kimmel heads up a very stingy Mountaineer defense with Prosser grabbing 4 INTs.  That defense has only allowed 27 points all year.  Berlin 27 Penns Manor 14.

Williams Valley 7-2 @ Tri-Valley 9-0 – District 11 has a dandy for football enthusiasts in that area.  The Vikings of Williams Valley are led by RB Alex Achenbach and his 1,482 yards and 20 TDs.  QB Isaac Whiteash has tossed the ball for 1,220 yards and 18 TDs.  WR Brady Evans has 31 grabs for 841 yards and 11 scores.  Logan Williard is the tackle leader on the Viking defense.  The Bulldogs of Tri-Valley are led by QB Kole Miller, RB Jake Scheib, and WR Layne Yoder.  Miller has 1,035 yards passing with 9 TD tosses.  Scheib has rushed for 613 yards and 11 scores.  Yoder has 22 catches for 413 yards and 4 goal line crossings.  RB Kameron Wetzel has 579 yards and 7 TDs in only 4 games, but he has been hurt and may not play.  Reese Huntzinger leads Tri-Valley in tackles with 89.  The team also has picked off 17 opposition passes.  Tri-Valley 35 Williams Valley 28.
