Protime Predictions – Protime is Burning Out

| September 7, 2023

On occasion, Protime doesn’t know whether he’s coming or going.  Mrs. P always points him in the right direction because that’s just the way she is.  (It’s usually outside or down to the basement to get him out of her hair.)  Protime covers a game or two each week (12 the first week), does district reviews, predictions, coach interviews for articles, rankings meetings (Protime has his own, but don’t tell anyone), looks at many game articles from around the state, and more.  He doesn’t get to bed until 1 in the morning or later especially on weekends.  Whew!

Even now as he writes this, Protime’s head is spinning.  God and Mrs. P are his calming peace.  Last week Protime couldn’t find his eyedrops.  Then one day he needed to put Vaseline on a scrape and found his eyedrops in the Vaseline jar!  How did they get there?  Protime had to put them there, but he doesn’t remember doing that.  He also walked upstairs to get something and when he got to the top of the steps, he couldn’t remember what he went up there to get.

Protime will get back to doing a half dozen game previews for his prognostications, but for now bear with him as he does the game predictions with a note or two.  Last week, the overworked prognosticator went 23-2 and is now 43-7 for the first couple of weeks.  So, his predictability is not lost, at least yet.  Here are this week’s picks from your favorite football fortune teller.

Central Bucks East 28 Souderton 21 – Both teams are undefeated.  Somebody’s gonna win and somebody’s gonna lose.  Protime’s crystal ball has the Patriots over the Indians by 7.

Pine-Richland 31 Penn Hills 23 – Coach Jon LeDonne knows how to make adjustments as the season moves along and in game.  That will be the difference as the Rams topple the Indians on this night.

Harrisburg 15 Manheim Township 14 – This will be one of the best games in the state this week.  Look for the Cougars to go for two against the Blue Streaks and win it in the fourth quarter.

Bald Eagle Area 35 Penns Valley 28 – Here is another good game out of District 6 where the Bald Eagles of BEA swoop past the Rams at the end.

Southern Lehigh 24 Bangor 18 – Protime is flipping a coin for this one.  Heads comes up for the Spartans, but the Slaters of Bangor are no slouches.  This game will be nip and tuck all the way.

Sharon 14 Hickory 7 – These District 10 games are always tough to decipher.  Protime has the Tigers clinging to the victory over the Hornets by a TD.

Jersey Shore 41 Selinsgrove 34 – Lots of one score differentials this week and this contest is no exception.  The Bulldogs tame the Seals in a high scoring affair.

Belle Vernon 20 McKeesport 14 – This game, to coin a phrase, will be a real cat fight with the Leopards of B.V. pulling out the win against the Tigers.

West Chester Rustin 40 West Chester East 20 – The Golden Knights invade Harold I. Zimmerman Stadium and slay the Vikings.

Redbank Valley 27 Punxsutawney 14 – After falling behind early, the Bulldogs make adjustments and overcome the tenacious Chucks.

Palmyra 21 Donegal 17 – The Cougars have a nice game to knock off the Indians.

Purchase Line 19 West Shamokin 13 – Coming into this game, the Wolves of West Shamokin are hungry, but the Dragons of P.L. have a bit more fire.

Parkland 27 Bethlehem Liberty 17 – The Trojans are for real.  They go to 3-0 by weathering the storm and defeating the Hurricanes.

Oil City 42 North East 28 – Can anyone stop Ethan Knox of Oil City?  The Grape Pickers are next in line to try, but to no avail as Knox and the Oilers win again.

Owen J. Roberts 14 Avon Grove 12 – The O.J.R. Wildcats are in for a tussle with the Red Devils of Avon Grove, but they come out of it on top.

California 20 Waynesburg Central 8 – Cal has not given up a point in two games.  Even though the Raiders of Waynesburg score, the Trojans will win the game.

Hazleton 23 North Pocono 20 – In a tighter game than many expect, the Cougars claw their way to the triumph over the Trojans.

Brockway 41 Coudersport 18 – Brockway does not have a let down after beating 4A DuBois in overtime.  The Rovers continue their quest with the ‘W’ over the Falcons.

Northeast 11 Archbishop Wood 7 – In the battle of Vikings, this low scoring game finds Northeast’s Vikings avenging last year’s loss to the Vikings of Wood.

South Fayette 31 Montour 29 – In a fantastic game, the Lions pull out the victory over the Spartans.

Southern Columbia 26 Loyalsock 24 – Avenging their loss to the Lancers last year, the Tigers squeak by in a very, very close contest.

North Star 22 Meyersdale 14 – The Cougars have enough power to fend off the Red Raiders.

North Schuylkill 36 Pine Grove 14 – The Spartans take down the Cardinal in this D-11 battle.
