Protime Predictions – Protime Locks Himself Out

| September 14, 2023

Earlier this week Protime was feeling great.  He was heading off to the gym to fellowship with the gym rats for a while.  Later when he left the gym, he didn’t feel so great.  He couldn’t find his keys and it was clouding up like it was going to rain cats and dogs.  Had one of the gym rats taken them as a joke?  Protime quickly trotted out to his vehicle.  The doors were locked, but when he peered in, he saw the keys dangling from the ignition.  (Protime presses a button in the car to lock the doors when he gets out as the battery in the key fob doesn’t work anymore.)

Another dilemma now presented itself.  Should Protime walk two miles home and get the other set of keys and walk back, never mentioning a word of this to the lovely Mrs. P?  Or should he call her at her parents’ house, interrupt her visit, and admit he did a goofy thing?  The deciding factor was if it rained, Protime would look like a drenched gym rat.  The call was made and Mrs. P delivered the extra keys.  Shaking her head and smiling she said, “here’s your sign.”  Protime sheepishly smiled back and thanked her.  What else could he do?

The Dean of Discernment went 17-7-1 last week and is now 60-14-1 (.807) for the season.  Before he somehow gets locked out of his computer, here are Protime’s picks of the week.

Aliquippa 26 Montour 20 – Is Montour back?  The Spartans give the Quips a run for their money.  If you haven’t read Protime’s article ‘Conversation with Coach – Mike Warfield, Aliquippa’, you’ll find it extremely interesting.  Check it out.

Manheim Township 38 Spring-Ford 31 – A real doozy down east between two 3-0 squads, finds the Blue Streaks sending the Rams of Spring-Ford to the ranks of the once-beaten.

Central Clarion 42 Punxsutawney 24 – Watch out for the Wildcats this year.  They average 59 points a game.  The Chucks are good, but fall for the second week in a row to a state-ranked team.

Parkland 21 Nazareth 20 – In another top-notch game in the eastern half of PA, the Trojans edge the Blue Eagles by a point.  If you are in the area, check this game out.  You will not be disappointed.

Bald Eagle Area 35 Tyrone 17 – The BEA Bald Eagles fly higher than the Tyrone Golden Eagles in this battle of the eagles.

Scranton Prep 41 Scranton 31 – Both teams come into the game 3-0.  Only the Cavaliers come out 4-0 as they down the Knights.

Pittsburgh Central Catholic 38 Mt. Lebanon 24 – PCC is possibly on a collision course with St. Joes Prep in 6A.  The Blue Devils can’t keep pace with the Vikes.  Just too much talent.

Trinity (3) 27 West Perry 10 – Trinity probably should have beaten Wyomissing last week, losing late by a point.  The Shamrocks give the Mustangs a shake and earn the win.

Cambridge Springs 28 Reynolds 14 – The Blue Devils go to 4-0 by repelling the Raiders in this D-10 contest.

Danville 34 Loyalsock 24 – Keep your eye on the Ironmen this year.  This is the first of two regular season tests for them.  The Lancers lose back-to-back games to ranked teams.  Last week #1 Southern Columbia (2A) beat them.

State College 31 Altoona 14 – The Little Lions get back on the winning track by dropping the Mountain Lions in this cat fight.

Tri-Valley 13 Schuylkill Haven 9 – Could be a real slobber knocker in Hegans, PA as the Bulldogs survive the storm the Hurricanes bring.

Port Allegany 21 Cameron County 14 – The Gators give the Red Raiders their first loss of the season in a close one in Emporium.

Imhotep 28 Malvern Prep 13 – This may be the year the Panthers get back to the winners’ circle at states.  But they have to focus and this week the Friars are a challenge for sure.

Elizabeth-Forward 27 Shady Side Academy 14 – The Warriors get the upper hand on the Bulldogs and win by 13.

Manheim Central 38 Susquehannock 19 – Manheim gets back to their winning ways as the Barons double up a game Warrior team.

Grove City 14 Sharon 13 – This game is a toss-up and the Protime coin flip says take the Eagles by a point over the Tigers.

Valley View 21 North Pocono 14 – A good one in Moscow up in the Poconos finds the Cougars rallying for the win over the Trojans.

Chestnut Ridge 26 Forest Hills 24 – Protime’s crystal ball says the Lions by a couple as they take down the Rangers.

George Washington 16 Ben Franklin 12 – The forefathers of our country duke it out in District 12 and the Eagles of GW get past the Electrons of BF.

Beaver 28 South Park 24 – The Bobcats stalk and eventually prevent the Eagles from soaring in this hotly contested contest.

Blue Mountain 21 Pottsville 7 – The Eagles triumph over the Crimson Tide.

North East 30 General McLane 20 – One of Protime’s favorite mascots, the Grape Pickers, get the victory over the Lancers.

Cocalico 41 Octorara 28 – With both teams 2-1, it seems to Protime that the Cocalico Eagles are a bit better the Braves of Octorara.

Mohawk 27 Riverside 21 – Should be a good game with the Warriors winning out in the end over the Panthers.
