Protime Predictions – The Adventure of Putting Up Christmas Lights

Protime decided to put up his outside Christmas lights and decorations the other day when it was 80 degrees. The older he gets, the less he can tolerate cold weather, so rather than freeze he made the executive decision to put up the lights now. First, he threw up some lights, a wreath, and an angel on the deck. Then he realized the wreath was too high and needed rotated so only one extension cord would connect the angel to the wreath. He also redid the lights as the loops were too low and the lights were two feet short of reaching the end of the deck.
The big problems appeared when Protime was decorating the front of the house and as a result it was dark by the time he was done. He had to re-string lights on an evergreen three times because he forgot the gap size between rows. Then he fell off a 6-foot ladder into some briary bushes. He broke two solar lights by not paying attention and stepping on them. He put lights around the door only to realize the outlet was on the opposite side of where the plug was, therefore that called for a redo. Finally, when he turned the lights on to see if they worked, the strand right in the middle of the bushes burned out.
Luckily, Protime has not burned out from predicting games each week for you. The prodigious prognosticator went 21-4 last week and now sits at 233-64 for the year (.785). Enjoy this week’s savvy selections by the Super Surmiser.
Aliquippa (7-2) vs. Thomas Jefferson (11-0) at Chartiers Valley – Penn State commit Tikey Hayes leads the Quips who has a bunch of D-1 recruits. QB Marques Council has thrown for 1,217 yards and 14 TDs. Hayes is almost to 1,000 yards rushing and has scored 14 touchdowns. He has missed about 4 games due to injuries, but he’ll be back for this game of the week.
TJ is coached by Bill Cherpak a legend in the WPIAL. The Jaguars are led on offense by Luke Kosko, Tyler Eber, and Braden White. Kosko has passed for 1,565 yards and 19 touchdowns. Eber has rushed for 1,574 yards and 24 scores. White has 936 receiving yards and 11 TDs. The Jag defense is headed up by Matt Martinis. Kicker Sam Wessel could be the difference.
Thomas Jefferson 24 Aliquippa 21.
Plymouth-Whitemarsh (9-2) @ Central Bucks South (11-0) – The Colonials of Plymouth-Whitemarsh are having a great season. QB Caiden Leszczynski has 1,000 yards passing and 14 TDs. RB Everett Baker has 1,163 yards and 23 touchdowns to his credit. Kevin Hegarty is the leading Colonial tackler on a defense that has 17 interceptions.
Central Bucks South is led by Owen Pinkerton. (Is he a distant relation to the Pinkerton detective founder?) He has pitched the rock for 1,178 yards and 14 touchdowns. But this guy is talented. He ran for 1,016 yards and a dozen TDs so far this year. RB Braylen Cape has scored 9 touchdowns. WR Danny Gies has 613 yards receiving and 8 TDs. Jack Bartolillo is the guy on defense for the Titans.
31-17 CB South over the Plymouth-Whitemarsh.
Shippensburg (10-1) @ Conestoga Valley (10-0) – The Greyhounds race into town thanks to a pair of running backs. Janye Statum has 1,290 yards and 18 touchdowns, while Mark Carothers has 782 yards rushing and 9 TDs. Elijah Bailey leads a capable defense in interceptions.
The Buckskins as a team have over 1,760 yards rushing, but no one over 500 yards individually. Eleven rushers have scored. QB Sawyer Ebenshade has thrown for 1,847 yards and 23 TDs. The top receiver is Jayden Johnson. Seth Morgan has 113 tackles to date to lead the Bucks’ defense.
