Protime Predictions (With Some Protime Advice)

Tagged under: News, pfn, Protime Predictions

| November 10, 2022

Protime has always said, ‘you can’t take your actions or words back.’  All the young high schoolers (and most adults) should remember that.  Do what you can to stay on the straight and narrow.  Always be good and do good.  Stay away from negative people and those who would lead you astray.  Be a leader and an example especially to those younger than you.  Be a champion to those who are less talented, less fortunate, shy, underprivileged, or even down on their luck.  Don’t make fun of people and please don’t be verbally or physically abusing your teammates for crying out loud.  Trust God and trust the process.

Protime has been around the block a time or two.  He’s seen a lot over the years.  The best teams do not always win and many times it is because there are individuals and not teammates playing the game.  Believe it or not Protime has made mistakes.  He’s said and done things he shouldn’t have.  When that happens, admit your error, learn from it and move on.  Apologize if necessary.  You will be a better person and will gain respect.  Remember, it’s not about winning.  Yes, that is a goal and it’s usually more fun than losing.  But, football (and sports in general) can build confidence and character, make you a team player, keep you focused, and give you valuable leadership skills.  All of those traits will help you be successful in the game of life.

Here are this week’s picks by the preeminent predictor who stands at 209-73 (.741) for the 2022 season:

Bethlehem Freedom 9-2 @ Emmaus 10-1 – In the first game of the season, Emmaus beat Freedom 19-13.  This is the rematch and it has all the makings of a classic.  The B.F. Patriots come in riding an 8-game winning streak and have only allowed 37 points in their last 6 games.  Offensively, Freedom is led by QB Ethan Neidig.  He’s thrown for 1,317 yards and 10 touchdowns.  He has scrambled for 575 yards and 9 TDs.  RB Jalen Fletcher has 1,230 yards and has scored 20 touchdowns.  WR Owen Johnson leads the team with 24 catches and also heads up a tough Patriot ‘D’ as the top tackler.  The Hornets are led by QB Jake Fotta and his 1,798 yards passing.  He also has thrown 19 TD tosses.  Fotta has run the ball for 9 more scores.  WR Dylan Darville is the man with 50 grabs for 953 yards and 11 scores.  RB Tylik Jarvis has 716 yards rushing and has scored 7 touchdowns.  The Hornet ‘D’ is led by Aidan Garrett and his 85 tackles.  Darville has 5 picks to lead in that category.  Protime’s crystal ball has played out this game and it shows Freedom 21 and Emmaus 17.

Upper St. Clair 9-2 vs. Bethel Park 10-1 @ Canon-MacMillan – In the 7th week of the season Bethel Park beat USC 27-14.  The USC Panthers are led by a pair of young QBs.  Sophomore Julian Dahlem has 980 yards and 16 TDs passing, while freshman Ethan Hellmann has 659 yards and 8 TDs.  WR Aidan Besselman has 37 receptions for 743 yards and 10 touchdowns.  RB Jamaal Brown is a great asset as he takes the pressure off the QBs with his elusive running ability.  He has gained 1,336 yards and scored 12 TDs.  Van Hellmann leads the Panther defense in tackles, a defense that has forced 22 turnovers thus far.  Tanner Pfeuffer has thrown for 1,418 yards and 14 TDs for the Bethel Park Black Hawks.  WR Ryan Petras has 44 catches for 578 yards.  Petras has rushed for 578 yards also.  Between receptions and running he has scored 17 times.  RB Austin Caye has chalked up 775 yards with 6 TDs, and RB Gavin Moul has 577 yards and 7 scores.  The crystal ball is still warm and it says Bethel 24 USC 20.

Dallas 9-2 @ Valley View 9-2 – We have a good one on tap up in D-2 between the Mountaineers and the Cougars.  The Dallas Mountaineers have a fantastic running back by the name of Parker Bolesta who has covered 1,983 yards and scored 29 touchdowns.  QB Brady Zapoticky has tossed the agate for 1,301 yards and 13 TDs.  WR Dylan Geskey has hauled down 26 passes and has accounted for 4 TDs.  PK Jace Chopyak has made 44 out of 45 PATs.  Valley View’s Cougars are led by QB Adam Howantz who has 1,209 yards passing with 12 TDs.  He’s run for another 7 TDs.  WR Taheed Jewell has 46 snares for 588 yards and 7 TDs.  RB Connor Hilling has raced for 1,120 yards and 17 goal line crossings.  Jewell has 4 INTs to lead the Cougar defense.  Valley View 27 Dallas 21.

Windber 10-1 vs. Northern Bedford 11-0 @ Bedford – A very competitive game in District 5 features the Windber Ramblers and the Panthers of Northern Bedford.  Windber comes into this game averaging 48.5 points a game.  The main cog on offense is 4-year starter John Shuster who has amassed 2,422 yards to date, averaging 14.5 yards a tote.   Shuster has scored an astonishing 35 touchdowns.  Thirteen other players have carried the ball for the Ramblers, scoring 32 more touchdowns and accounting for another 1,652 yards rushing.  Needless to say, Windber does not need to pass much.  PK Bryson Costa has made 54 extra points.  Jake Hostetler and Blake Klosky lead Windber in tackles.  Eion Snider may give the Rambler defense fits throwing the ball.  He has 1,714 yards and 18 touchdowns through the air.  WR Aaron Bowers has 43 grabs for 609 yards and a handful of scores.  RB Adam Johnson is very dangerous and hard to bring down.  He has 1,549 yards rushing with 28 touchdowns.  He also has caught 5 TD passes.  PK Collin Yeats has booted 47 PATs.  Ashton Detterline and Bowers head up a stingy Panther defense.  A Protime coin flip says Windber 35 NBC 28.

Shippensburg 8-3 @ Solanco 10-0 – Don’t let records fool you.  This game will be a nail-biter.  The Greyhounds of Shippensburg have some very good athletes.  Starting with quarterback Tucker Chamberlin.  He’s tossed the ball for 1,400 yards and 15 touchdowns.  RB Trae Kater has 1,040 yards and a half dozen TDs to his credit.  WR Erby Weller has hauled in 32 passes for 678 yards and 9 scores.  RB Amari Kerr chimes in with 622 yards and 12 touchdowns.  Kater and Jaysaun Gonzalez each have 4 picks to lead Ship’s defense.  Protime got a chance to see the Golden Mules earlier this year.  They are a run first team usually out of the Wing-T.  Cole Harris has 880 yards via the ground game and has scored 8 times.  Josiah Forren has 804 yards and 10 TDs.  QB Brody Mellinger has scurried for 704 yards and 17 rushing TDs.  He has passed for 495 yards and 7 TDs.  Elijah Cunningham has scored 9 times between catching passes and running the football.  Forren has 95 tackles for the Golden Mule defense, and Cunningham has 4 INTs.  Protime has it Solanco 34 Shippensburg 27.

Brockway 7-4 vs. Redbank Valley 9-1 @ DuBois – Redbank weathered the Brockway comeback during the season and won 34-28.  Look for another close one.  Brockway’s sophomore QB, Brayden Fox, has pitched the pigskin for 2,448 yards and 31 touchdowns.  His main man is Alex Carlson.  Mr. Carlson has caught 85 passes for 1,010 yards and 11 touchdowns.  WR Dylan Hanna is no slouch either with 27 grabs for 603 yards and 9 TDs.  Brockway turned things around when they began running Jendy Cuello more.  He’s gone over the 1,000-yard mark with 1,120 and scored 10 times.  The defense has forced 20 turnovers with Carlson getting 6 of those by intercepting passes.  Tanner Guaglianone leads the Rovers in tackles.  All freshman Braylon Wagner has done since taking over as QB the last 3 games is throw for 693 yards and 8 TDs.  WRs Aiden Ortz and Tate Minch have caught 96 passes between them.  Ortz has 50 grabs for 783 yards and 11 TDs, while Minich has 46 catches for 683 yards and 10 scores.  Ortz has over 1,000 all-purpose yards.  RB Drew Byers keeps opponents off balance with his 699 yards rushing and 5 TDs.  The Bulldog ‘D’ has forced 22 turnovers.  Ortz has 5 interceptions and Caden Adams has taken down 106 ball carriers.  In a real dogfight it’ll be the Bulldogs 42 and the Rovers 34.

The Others:

Southern Columbia 31 Troy 18 – Jim Roth has an injured player or two back and, with minor adjustments, the Tigers will be a tough out as the Trojans can attest.

McKeesport 26 Armstrong 21 – Closer than many think, the Tigers pull it out against the River Hawks and their high-profile quarterback Cadin Olsen.

Downingtown East 31 Downingtown West 28 – A reversal of winners from a few weeks ago, but the same score sees the Cougars scratch out the win over the Whippets.

Richland 28 Bishop Guilfoyle 24 – This will not be an easy win for the Rams as the Marauders will be there right down to the end.  Remember BG is the defending state 1A champs, but had to move up to 2A this year.

Cocalico 34 Gettysburg 24 – The Eagles have hit their flight pattern in the playoffs and take down the Warriors.

Northeast 16 Abraham Lincoln 8 – This is another low scoring Philly Public Playoff with the Vikings clamping down on the Railsplitters.

Western Wayne 29 Scranton Prep 23 – Protime has the Wildcats coming out on top in an exciting game with the Cavaliers.

Northwestern Lehigh 48 Notre Dame Green Pond 45 – Protime can smell overtime as the Tigers upend the Crusaders.

Canton 28 Muncy 20 – Both teams average over 40 points a game (Muncy 45), but they both have terrific defenses too.  Canton’s Warriors find a way to knock off the unbeaten Muncy Indians.

Central York 38 William Penn York 34 – For the second time this year a really good cat fight finds the Panthers surviving the Bearcats.

Clearfield 17 St. Marys 13 – The Bison defeat the Flying Dutch in the D-9 AAA title game for the third straight year.
