Red Flash too much for Blue Devils!

Division 3 Northeast Conference Game

Central Connecticut State Blue Devils (0-4)@ St. Francis Red Flash (2-2)

After four straight road games to start the season, the St. Francis Red Flash played host to the visiting Central Connecticut State Blue Devils. The Red Flash beat the Blue Devil for the first time in five years.

If you look at the team stats you would think it was a close game. St. Francis barely had the advantage in first downs(17-15) and total yards (299-266). The Red Devils however won the turnover battle(3-1) and were five for five in the red zone. Both offenses struggled in the first quarter. SFU got a field goal from Alex Schmoke and a safety when CCSU snapped the ball through the end zone to lead 5-0 st the end of one.

The Red Flash offense came alive with two long second quarter drives. Makai Jackson took a Cole Dylan pass, raced and powered his way to a 29 yard touchdown. Lovell Armstrong plowed in from a yard out six minutes later. It was 19-0 St.Francis and a blowout looked to be on the horizon. After the defense came up with another stop right before the half, the Red Devils decided to try and score again instead of running out the final minute. It would cost them big time when Blue Devil Laquay Washington picked off Dylan and raced down the sidelines for a CCSU touchdown. It was 19-6 st halftime.

Both teams exchanged third quarter touchdowns. The Red Devils first, as they capitalized on a short field. The Blue Devils answered with a 75 yard drive. The Red Devils would add two fourth quarter touchdowns after taking the ball away on drives of 27 & 7 yards.
