The Catasauqua Rough Riders are in the process of getting a new stadium turf field. So the first two home games will be played at Al Erdosy Stadium on Louis Wolf Field in Northampton. They may want to consider that field for more games as they overwhelmed an undermanned Marian Catholic team by the score of 42-6.

The scoring onslaught started with Hunter Reitz taking it in from the 2 with 8:43 to go in the 1st Quarter. The 3-play drive went fast and furious.

On its second possession Catty’s Elijah Soler (10-103-2TD), ran 43 yards for a score and it was 14-0 with 9:47 to go in the second quarter.

.The big play in the first half was a 66-yard touchdown strike from quarterback Christian Fye (4-5-90yards,1TD) to Wyatt Younes.

The third quarter led to another Catasauqua score.  Anthonie Hunsicker (9-35-2TD) took it in from 5 yards out and it mercy rule 35-0 with 8:32 to go in the third quarter.

Then Marian made a change at quarterback, bringing in sophomore Bruce Hopek.  They had not attempted a pass in three quarters that was able to be thrown.  Hopek immediately ignited the offense against the second-string Catty defense with a long pass to the former quarterback Matt Rehrig and then another pass to Mike Gelatko for 18 yards and the touchdown.  Hopek finished 308 for 87 yards for Marian.

Hunsicker’s 11-yard run for a touchdown capped off the night and the Roughies went back to Cartasauqua with a 42-6 win.  Catty moves to 3-0, while Marian Catholic falls to 0-3.  But the promise is there that Marian has found an air game.
