Hellertown-

After a hiccup to start the game, Saucon defense puts the clamps on the Falcon offense, and the Rohn brothers combine for 6 scores on the night to propel the Panthers to a lopsided homecoming victory, 40-13.

After stopping the Panthers on 4th down on their first offensive possession of the game, Salisbury put together a lengthy 11 play drive which was capped off via a Keaton Frye 36 jaunt through the Panther defense for the opening score of the game.  With 2:10 left in the 1st quarter, the visiting Falcons led, 7-0.

Saucon responded immediately on their next drive as Braden Rohn found Thomas Cahill on a deep shot  on the 2nd play of the drive for a 49 yard score as the pass was just out of reach of the Salisbury defender. With just under a minute remaining in the first quarter the score was all tied up at 7.

Salisbury missed on a big opportunity as a long pass from Frye just slipped through a receiver’s hands forcing a punt from the Falcons.  The Panthers offense took the field after their defense forced the punt and went right back to work. This drive was capped off via a 23 yard touchdown pass from Rohn to Mickie Mclarin down the middle of the Falcon defense to put the Panthers up 7 with 8:13 remaining in the first half.

On the ensuing Salisbury possession, Frye once again looking to go deep on 3rd down had the attempt broken up at the very last second by Braden Rohn who was looking to help his own cause on the other side of the ball for the Panthers.  Rohn took command of this drive through the air finding Thomas Cahill twice for big chunks of yards and then Taylor Rohn finished off the drive with a 10 yard run right up the gut to put the Panthers up 21-7 with 4:08 left in the half.

The Panthers defense continued their dominance during the next Falcon possession as the drive was ended early via a pick by the Panthers’ Zak Ziegler who returned the pick deep in to Falcon’s territory.  Only 2 plays is what it took for the Panther’s to find the end-zone, this time Braden Rohn called his own number and stretched the ball across the goal line for the Saucon touchdown from 10 yards out with 2:01 remaining in the 2nd quarter.  The point after was no good after a mis-handled snap.

The following Salisbury drive ended with a stop by the Saucon defense on 4th down at the Salisbury 23.  The first play by Saucon on the ensuing possession was picked off in the end-zone by Jadiel Gonzalez to thwart the Saucon offense just before half. Going in to the half, it was Saucon Valley 27, Salisbury 7.

Third quarter action began with the Panthers receiving the kick and methodically driving right down the field mainly on the arm of Braden Rohn who capped off the scoring drive with a 10 yard  absolute dime of a touchdown pass to Isaiah McNally to extend the Panthers’ lead to 34-7 with  4:55 left in the 3rd quarter.

The following Falcon’s offensive possession was once again ended via a pick, this time by the Panther’s Jaylen Caballero who hauled in the Frye pass. The turnover bug was not only biting the Falcons, but also found the Panthers as on the very next play, Saucon Valley’s Rohn was picked off by Jadiel Gonzalez.

After the back and forth turnovers, the Panther defense forced another Falcon punt.  Saucon held on to the ball this possession and capped off the drive via a 10 yard score from Taylor Rohn who found a huge hole up the middle for the score with 8 :18 left in the game.

Looking to get anything going on their next possession for the Falcon offense, Frye once again looked to take a deep shot down the field.  This pass was instead picked off by the Panthers as Zak Ziegler came down with the pass.

Refusing to give up, the Falcon offense took the field once again and on the final play of the game, Frye connected with AJ Moren for a 26 yard score.  Final score from Hellertown, Saucon Valley 40, Salisbury 13.

With the victory, Saucon Valley improves to 4-3 on the season and will travel to Pen Argyl (5-1) next week who will take on undefeated Notre Dame-Green Pond this Saturday.  With the loss, Salisbury drops to 2-5 on the season and will host Palmerton(2-5) next week.

After the game I was able to track down the Rohn brothers for a few words about the homecoming victory for the Panthers.
