The Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes reign victorious after a close game with the Vikings of Williams Valley. Niko Carestia stays hot for the Hurricanes with three touchdowns on the night. Three different players reached the endzone for Williams Valley.
The first quarter opened up with Kian Krzyzanowski taking the opening kickoff to the house to put his Vikings on the board first. Kicker Sage Smeltz nailed the extra point. The Hurricanes’ scoring started when defensive tackle Chase Williams recovered a Vikings’ loose ball in Hurricane territory, leading to a Niko Carestia touchdown and two-point conversion.

Schuylkill Haven’s Leyden Hertz snagged an interception from the Vikings’ endzone to set up Colton Reber for a touchdown. The Hurricanes led 16-7.
The second quarter included solid scoring drives from each team as they attempted to top one another. Carestia added to the Hurricanes’ lead with a 75-yard touchdown in the second. Vikings quarterback Brady Shomper answered with a touchdown of his own. Carestia stayed dominant with another long run for a score, Niko Castillo capping off the drive with the two-point conversion. Krzyzanowski reeled in a pass from Shomper to finish off the half. Hurricanes remained on top, 32-22.

The Vikings had the only touchdown of the third quarter, which came from Evan Achenbach and closed the scoring gap. The Hurricanes still led 32-30. Schuylkill Haven quarterback Brayden Fasnacht found Niko Castillo in the endzone with just under two minutes left in the game, which sparked the feeling of victory throughout the Hurricanes. Castillo sealed the game with an interception, and the Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes defeated the Williams Valley Vikings, 38-30.

Coach Mike Farr and his Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes will face the Marian Colts, while Coach Stephen Sedesse and his Williams Valley Vikings will take on the Panther Valley Panthers.
