Schuylkill Haven Heads to 2A Chip After Dominating Win Over Executive Education

The Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes defeated the Executive Education Raptors with a final score of 71 – 12 to send themselves to the District XI Class 2A Championship Game. Aiden Myers and Niko Carestia had 3 touchdowns a piece in this huge victory.

Myers opened up the scoring action for the night with an 11-yard touchdown in the game’s first two minutes. The Raptors responded back with a drive of their own, resulting in a 3-yard score from Sylis Styles. This was no sweat for the Hurricanes as Myers scored another touchdown, this time from 14 yards out. Carestia completed the 2-point conversion, 1 of 4 successful attempts from the running back. The score at the end of the first was 15-6, Schuylkill Haven.

Myers didn’t let up his scoring efforts as he started the second quarter off with his third touchdown of the night, Carestia with another 2-point conversion. Yaseen Mirza was able to give his Raptors a little spark with a touchdown, but this would prove to be the end of the scoring for Executive. Carestia ran 71 yards for a huge Hurricane touchdown on the kick return. The score after one half was 29-12, Schuylkill Haven.

Augustus Warke scored to start the second half. The 2-point attempt was good once again from Carestia. The Hurricanes took over the pace of the game when kicker Grayson Fessler executed an onside kick. Aidan Clauser recovered, and this possession led to Carestia in the end zone. Colton Reber completed the extra points. Clauser got in on the scoring as well with a 2-yard touchdown. The energy was high on the Hurricane sidelines. Chase Williams was named Lineman of the Game as he continues to prove himself on both sides of the ball. As for newcomers, freshman Brody Brand had a huge hit on Raptor quarterback Richardson, leading to Carestia intercepting the ball. Carestia finished what he started with a 22-yard touchdown. The Hurricanes continued to lead, 59-12.

The fourth quarter was all action from freshman running back Colton Reber, who had a touchdown and a fumble recovery. Aden Celani scored the final touchdown of the game. The Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes defeated the Executive Education Raptors, 71-12.

The District XI 2A Championship Game will be held on Saturday, November 11 at North Schuylkill. Schuylkill Haven will take on Williams Valley at 6.
