Schuylkill Haven Mauls Tri-Valley in Week 10 Win

The Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes defeated the Tri-Valley Bulldogs 66-16 in the final week of the regular season. Niko Carestia and Colton Reber had three touchdowns a piece, Leyden Hertz adding two. Shawn Singh and Connor Middleton scored for the Dawgs.

The game opened up with the Hurricanes stopping the Dawgs defensively, then finding the endzone quickly, Niko Carestia scoring from 5 yards out. Niko Castillo completed the two-point conversion. Carestia scored on the next Hurricane possession, this time from 6 yards away. Colton Reber completed the two-point attempt. Even though Tri-Valley’s Cole Gemberling was able to push downfield, Adam Balulis hauled in a long pass attempt for an interception. The Hurricanes were off to a hot start, 16-0. 

The Hurricane scoring only continued, Reber opening up the second quarter scoring with his first touchdown of the night. Castillo was able to complete another two-point conversion. Schuylkill Haven shined defensively as well, senior Leyden Hertz snagging an interception and taking it to the house. Reber finished off the drive with a two-point conversion. Tri-Valley quarterback Blake Schwartz was able to get into Hurricane territory, but Carestia knocked the ball loose and Nathan Chamberlain recovered it for the Hurricanes. Carestia then scored a 22-yard touchdown, Reber with the two-point conversion. The final score of the quarter came from Reber, running 51 yards to the endzone, Carestia completed the two-point attempt. Schuylkill Haven built a huge lead, 54-0. 

Leyden Hertz kept Schuylkill Haven’s intensity up with a kickoff return for a touchdown. Tri-Valley showed solid defensive efforts for the rest of the quarter, but Hurricane freshman Logan Goad found the endzone before the end of the quarter. The score heading into the fourth was 66-0, Schuylkill Haven. 

Tri-Valley was able to spark some action in the final quarter of play, Shawn Singh breaking for a long run and then scoring on the next possession. Ty Troutman snuck in for the two-point conversion. The Dawg defense was able to hold the Hurricanes from scoring the rest of the game. Connor Middleton scored for his Bulldogs, Remington Klinger ending the game with a two-point conversion. The final score of this Week 10 matchup was 66-16, Schuylkill Haven.
