The Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes made quick work of the Pine Grove Area Cardinals, defeating them 81-6. The backfield trio of Niko Carestia, Niko Castillo, and Colton Reber were responsible for 52 of the Hurricanes’ 81 points. Logan Troup had the lone touchdown for the Cardinals.

The Hurricanes put up a huge first quarter, reaching the endzone five times. Niko Carestia opened up the Hurricane scoring with a 34-yard touchdown and two-point conversion. After the Cardinals gave up their first possession on downs, Niko Castillo scooped up the short punt and took it to the house for another score. Colton Reber dominated the rest of the first quarter with three touchdowns. He scored from 7 yards out, then followed up by hauling in a Cardinals’ pass for an interception and a score. He closed the quarter with a 61-yard touchdown. The Hurricanes led, 34-0.

Carestia started off the scoring again for his Hurricanes with a 72-yard run to the endzone. Even though the Hurricanes are known for their running game, quarterback Brayden Fasnacht was able to find Leyden Hertz for a 15-yard score. Niko Castillo added to the Hurricanes’ tremendous lead with a 27-yard touchdown. Hertz also snagged a pass from the Cardinals and ran it 92 yards to cap off the second quarter. Chase Williams, Wyatt Keefer, and Triston Davis led defensively, which was a huge part in keeping the Cardinals off the board. The Hurricanes added to their lead, now 69-0.

Carestia closed out his scoring for the night with a 42-yard touchdown. The Cardinals increased their defensive pressure and were able to hold the Hurricanes to only one touchdown in the quarter. The Hurricanes led 75-0 heading into the fourth.

Logan Troup found the endzone from 5 yards out after contributing to most of the Cardinals’ running game on the night. Freshman Chase Yoder ran for a 62-yard score for the Hurricanes, making the final score of this contest, 81-6.

Coach Mike Farr and his Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes will play their last regular season home game against the Nativity Green Wave. Coach David Shiffer and his Pine Grove Area Cardinals will travel to Marian to face the Colts.
