The Hurricanes of Schuylkill Haven huddle before taking the field
The Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes defeated the Marian Catholic Colts in shutout fashion, 36-0. The Hurricanes lost to the Colts in Week 1 last season, 27-0, so this was a game of redemption. Colton Reber and Niko Castillo had two touchdowns a piece, and Niko Carestia added a score as well. Aaron Gilbert dominated defensively with three sacks.
The Hurricanes made their way down the field in just four plays, Reber finishing off the drive from 1-yard out. Castillo then reached the endzone on the Hurricanes’ next possession, running 22 yards. Carestia completed the two-point conversion. The Hurricanes made a statement in the first, leading 14-0.

Castillo picked up where he left off, breaking free for a 57-yard touchdown in the second. Carestia added to the Hurricane lead with a 35-yard touchdown. Reber completed the two-point conversion. Marian’s Michael Johnson was able to snag a deep pass for an interception, but the clock ran to zero before the Colts could make a drive. The Hurricanes led, 28-0, at the half.

The Hurricanes kept up the offensive intensity, Carestia running all the way to the 1-yard line to set up Reber for a score. Adam Balulis completed the two-point conversion. Schuylkill Haven stayed aggressive defensively as well, Gilbert getting two of his three sacks in the third quarter. There was no scoring from either team in the fourth quarter, so the final score of this matchup was 36-0 Hurricanes.
