The Century Conference Title was on the line Friday night between Seton LaSalle and Washington and for the second straight season it was Seton LaSalle winning the conference with a 27-14 win over Washington.

Washington got the ball to start the game and the drive was looking good after getting into Seton LaSalle territory but the drive stalled because of penalties and they punted it away.

Seton LaSalle started their first drive on their own 4 yard line. Despite the bad field position that didn’t slow down Seton LaSalle’s offense. A big run by Kymarr Freeman got them into Washington territory. Eventually he finished off the drive on 5 yard touchdown run with 2:57 in the first quarter and Seton LaSalle had a 7-0 lead. Freeman was one of the key players for Seton LaSalle in the win. He had 250 yards rushing on 28 carries.

Early in the second quarter Washington started a drive on their own 46 yard line and were able to capitalize on the good field position eventually Tristan Reed found Blaise Naraskivitch on a 18 yard touchdown pass which tied the score 7.

Seton LaSalle got the ball back and was able to answer right back it was a big pass play that got them into Washington territory and eventually Kia Jones found Aaron Loritts for a 33 yard touchdown pass making it 14-7 Seton LaSalle with 4:57 in the second quarter. “They’re a good team and you know, our kids, you know, they just keep coming” said Coach Storino.

Seton LaSalle got the ball to start the second half and that drive started on their own 27 yard line. After getting to midfield Kia Jones threw his second touchdown of the game completing it to Matt Brodzinski for a 47 yard touchdown pass making it 21-7 Seton LaSalle with 8:59 in the third quarter. Jones was another key player in the win for Seton LaSalle he was 8 of 11 for 151 yards in the win. “Kia made huge, huge plays, he almost had a third touchdown pass towards the end there, he played out of his mind” said Coach Storino.

A little bit later in the third quarter Washington was once again able to cut into Seton LaSalle’s lead when Jahvon Woods scored on a 1 yard touchdown run making it 21-14 Seton LaSalle with 5:05 in the third quarter. That was also the score at the end of the third quarter.

Midway through the fourth quarter, Seton LaSalle was able to extend their lead on a 3 yard touchdown run by Kymarr Freeman which made the score 27-14 Seton LaSalle.

Towards the end of the game Washington had an opportunity to answer back they were able to get into Seton LaSalle territory but a couple penalties stalled the drive and a pass was completed but short of the line to gain.

After that Seton LaSalle ran out the clock and earned the Century Conference Title. Coming into the season Seton LaSalle lost several players but were able to overcome that. “It was 7 kids, they were supposed to be on this team, they were on this team, I mean we’re playing our JV team other than Will Martin and a couple of other guys, this is our JV team from last year, and you know credit to our coaches for preparing them, to get them ready and you know credit to our kids, it’s tough, and you know, people just think this is football and everything’s trickling down from college, but, like, the kids that left, they’re not football players, they’re like family, like, and people don’t really understand the effect it takes on someone who pours their heart in this, and then you walk away, that’s like losing a family member, And, you know, I wish them all best, I pray for them almost every night, but right now, we got a good football team, and we’re looking forward to the future” said Coach Storino.

Next week is the first week of the playoffs and Seton LaSalle and Washington will play opponents to be determined.
