Four-star athlete and Fort Cherry starting quarterback Matt Sieg verbally committed to Penn State last November, however today on national signing day he flipped his commitment to West Virginia University.
The senior had over 12,000 career all-purpose yards, including almost 3,000 of those yards coming this season and is the WPIAL’s all-time leader in all-purpose yards. Sieg, who is also a safety, collected 45 tackles, four interceptions with two pick-sixes.
He finishes his high school career with 49 career wins, two-WPIAL Class 1A Championships and this season helped the Red Rangers score 40+ points in all but one game this season.
Sieg had 27 division one offers and despite being committed to Penn State, after the firing of head coach James Franklin, he re-opened his options on where he could play collegiately. His top five schools were announced as Indiana, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Pitt and Penn State, but Sieg is going with the Mountaineers.
