Behind the running of Sean Steckert and the dominating line play. Southern Lehigh Spartans overwhelm Twin Valley in PIAA 4A championship.
MECHANICSBURG- Behind an outstanding run game, led by running back Sean Steckert’s 37 carry 301 yard performance, including four touchdowns, the Southern Lehigh Spartans defeated the Twin Valley Raiders 43-21 in a PIAA State 4A championship game Thursday night at Chapman Field at Cumberland Valley High School.
Steckert set the record for most yards in a 4A championship, and the second most all-time. He had touchdown runs of 11, 27, 6, and 2 yards in the contest. As a team, the Spartans ran 58 plays for 446 yards and averaged 8.1/carry, including a game-long 70-yard jaunt.
Twin Valley scored first, to take a 7-0 lead, but the Spartans marched right down the field to tie the score on a Steckert 11-yard score with 7:07 left in the first quarter. The drive went 80 yards in six plays, making it 7-7.

With the score 14-10 in Twin Valley’s advantage, Steckert scored for the second time on a 27-yard run on a drive that covered 50 yards in seven plays with just 17 seconds left before halftime, making the score 17-14 at intermission. He finished the first half with 156 yards.

Wide receiver Otto Young was on the receiving end of a 40-yard touchdown pass from QB Colton Sams. Sams finished the game 13 of 18 for 145 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Young caught 3 of those passes for 79 yards.

Young would score his second touchdown on a 30-yard reception at the 10:21 mark of the third quarter that made it 36-21 on an 8-play 64-yard drive.
