Josiah Trotter a 6-2 240lb linebacker heard his name called Friday night in the 2nd round of the 2026 NFL draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the 46th overall pick and 14th pick in the 2nd round. Josiah joins his older brother Jeremiah Jr (2024 5th round; 155th overall) and Father Jeremiah Sr (1998 3rd round; 72nd overall) on the father/son NFL draftee short list.  Josiah starred all 4 years at SJ Prep winning 3 state titles and as a junior and senior landed on numerous all-state teams. He enrolled early at West Virginia and immediately impressed before suffering a season ending injury during spring ball forcing him to redshirt in 2023. Josiah returned in 2024 where he excelled racking up 92 tackles, 1/2 sack and an interception which helped him earn All Big 12 honors as well as Big 12 Freshman of the year honors. With a coaching change Josiah opted to enter the portal and landed with SEC program Missouri.

As a redshirt sophomore at Missouri in 2025 Josiah once again shined leading the team in tackles with 84 and 2 sacks. Josiah was named 1st team coaches All-SEC and 2nd team All-SEC coaches team. With his selection by the Bucs on Friday evening Josiah, Jeremiah Jr and Jeremiah Sr joined rare company of fathers and multiple sons all being drafted. They join the company of the Mannings (Archie, Peyton & Eli), Longs (Howie, Chris and Kyle) and McCaffrey’s (Ed, Christian and Luke).
