Landon Barlow and The Panthers continue to shine

The Strath Haven Panthers pulled through another Victory over Penncrest 35-0, extending their winning streak over the Lions to 16 straight.

Here’s all of my analysis before this huge game kicked off.

Penncrest won the toss to start our game and elected to defer to Haven, who had the first possession of the game.

Strath Haven had nothing going on their first drive and had to punt, forfeiting the ball over to Penncrest, who had the opportunity to get things rolling on their first drive of the first quarter.

Penncrest had good field position on their first drive and took it down into the Strath Haven zone before going for it on 4th down. Despite their best efforts, Strath Haven pulled off a huge stop and took over on downs.

Strath Haven started their drive with some big rushes from Kasey Hudson, Ryan Mudrick, Landon Barlow, and Luke Mulhern. Yosef Ali then broke free for a huge rush all the way down onto the Penncrest 21-yard line, setting up a few minor rushes and then the big run. Ryan Mudrick got through the middle and took it 15 yards for a Haven TD. The point after was good, and Haven led 7-0 with just under 25 seconds left in the first quarter.

Penncrest wanted to keep the pace rolling with less than half a minute left in the first, getting off three plays before the horn sounded in the first for little positive yardage. Penncrest’s first play in the second quarter then led them to punting as they had 4th down in poor field position.

Strath Haven came out in their third offensive possession, hopeful that they might extend this lead even more, and a huge rush by Yosef Ali put them in field position to do so. Then out of nowhere, Landon Barlow broke free for a 26-yard touchdown rush, putting them up 14-0 thanks to the successful PAT.

Things started to crumble for Penncrest, who had to punt it away again, but they were able to turn a negative into a positive as the punt was a beauty, ultimately landing down on the 7-yard line and putting an end to Strath Haven’s first-half run.

My halftime analysis recapping the game to this point, and what stakes we have on the line.

Penncrest had the ball coming out of halftime, but once again, they would have to punt. But this time, the punt was shanked and ended up on the Lions 40 40-yard line, giving Haven prime field position.

Shortly following the punt, Haven turns garbage into gold, capitalizing on an apparent fumble that was blown dead, giving the Panthers another possession. Landon Barlow cannot be stopped. He was able to find the endzone once again, and following the PAT, Haven led 21-0.

Penncrest’s streak of punts continues, as they punt it away to Haven again, this time landing on the Haven 46-yard line.

The Haven was a quick one as Christian Kaufman went 53 yards and found his way into the endzone. Kaufman found himself free on the right side, and the rest was history. The PAT was good and haven led 28-0

Penncrest could never get anything going, having to give up the ball once again on their drive following Strath Haven’s 53-yard run from Christian Kaufman. All signs pointed to a 16th straight victory over Penncrest for Strath Haven.

Strath Haven wasn’t finished yet, driving down the field and getting into proper field position before they tacked on one more touchdown. Who else but Landon Barlow to complete the trifecta in back-to-back games! Mulhern fumbled the snap but was able to make a clean recovery before handing it off to Barlow, who scored on a 2 YD rush. The PAT was through, and Haven finished with 35 points.

Penncrest ultimately ran out the clock, giving Haven the victory in the Media Bowl and 16 straight wins over the Lions.

Finally, I got to chat with Landon Barlow following the game’s conclusion.
